That's the Way it Wiggles
March 30, 2010 8:43 AM
I've been doing a lot of gigs lately, so why not post some of the music here, right? This one is from a jaw harp mini-festival I was part of on March 28, 2010. I'm playing the Vietnamese jaw harp called the Dan Moi, along with a bass line from my JUNO 60 analog synth. Video of this same performance can be seen at YouTube.

Cool stuff. I don't think I've ever heard a Dan Moi before, but I especially liked it when you were vocalizing through it—it sounds like it could be a neat near talkbox or organic "autotune" if used with more of a new wave/robotic intention.

Thanks, klang. And yeah, you can totally talk through a Dan Moi, i do it with some frequency, actually. Sounds just like a vocoder or whatever. I'll post something here sometime.
Actually, I think I've got something here already, with a spoken line through the Dan Moi. But it might be YouTube, only, I can't remember. I'm going to bed now, but if I dig it up I'll link to it here, later.
Hope you're mending up nicely, man, after that accident.

That Juno is doing a nice job of backing you up. It sounds just enough like a stand up to give a nice jazz feel. Sweet.

Really good stuff. I like the lyrics and the call-and-response action with the Dan Moi. And, what an outstanding live performance/recording!

it's just how the dice shook
real bad luck
dangling in the water
it's cold you know
here comes a fish
what a way to go
that's the way it wiggles at the end of the line

what can you say
everything is closed
locked up tight
the broken heart of town
no one in sight
that's the way it wiggles at the end of the line

they say you can't take it with you
but he's gonna die trying
off to meet his maker
if there's a maker to meet
little birdy outside
singing tweet tweet tweet
