The demo of a reworked version of an older song, arranged for my Irish-American band, The Peter O'Tooles.
This is an approximation of what it will sound like, created using a ukulele, a MIDI keyboard, and Garage Band filters (from what we've produced live, it's a pretty close approximation, though). The instrumentation will normally be banjo playing what I'll call the rhythm guitar portion, banjolele on the lead part (both amplified and run through pedals to sound distorted and fuzzy, like Sixties garage rock played on folk instruments), with a bodhran providing the drumming. Most Peter O'Tooles songs have a drone behind them, created using an electronic shruti box.

I have listened to this maybe a dozen times now - it's super. Did you write this ? Could you post the lyrics? Thanks.

I did write it. Here are the lyrics:
KILKENNY SQUARE
Oh Jenny was there in Kilkenny Square
Her skirt blowing up behind her
She laughed and she said you can take me to bed
I could take her if I could find her
Jenny o Jenny o where do you roam
Jenny o Jenny I'll follow you home
Jenny was risky when she drank the whiskey
And demanded my attention
And Jenny was fun after a bottle of rum
And fun as any I'd mention
Jenny o Jenny o where do you roam
Jenny o Jenny I'll follow you home
She was mine until dawn and then she was gone
For reasons only she knows
Jenny'd reply I have a wandering eye
And I'll wander where my eye goes
Jenny o Jenny o where do you roam
Jenny o Jenny I'll follow you home
Thanks for your comments, all!

This song sounds like and the lyrics read like a stayed song of the genre - I'm really impressed. I'm so pleased I'll be able to see the Peter O'Tooles - ever play The Dubliner?
