Ven Aqui 1.0

A bit of a production experiment; rather than use a click track + programmed drums, I used a click-free guitar track as the bed, and layered performed keyboard drums on top. A slightly trickier process but thought it would result in more authentic feel/better pocket etc. An instrumental demo track based off Milton Nascimento's "Cravo e Canela". Recorded in the fall of 2015 in Rosebud, AB.

The drums sound great and it does feel like it has that 'human factor' that programmed drums can lack. Really nice guitar playing, too.

Agreeing with usonian, and adding that getting that human factor right also means this is still tight, and doesn't get muddy or start sounding like sneakers tumbling in a dryer (as many of my excursions into that same production experiment have turned into).

So: you are good at accompanying yourself and coordinating it all without a clicktrack. Well done!

This is ace! I love the flitty synths at around 1.30. It has the fresh feeling of Milton Nascimento's stuff too.

Really appreciate all your generous feedback; I will endeavour to make more using this process, as it seems to go over well. I apologize this one is not more... complete. Really more of a one-off demo kinda thing but I'm glad it's been enjoyed. :)
