My Sister the Giant

I'm doing an album this month, and this is the first thing I've recorded for it. I think the album will be mostly or completely instrumental, but we'll see. [more inside]

oslo nights

This is a quiet, meditative, minimalist instrumental piano piece, with occasional visits by vibes, fretless bass and lap steel guitar. You might want to play it somewhat loudly to hear some of the softer notes. Do you think it's finished, or should I add something? [more inside]

mandala

This collage, like this one, this one and this older one, has been mostly done through the use of a looping device and a guitar. And some ambient sounds too. Last part designed to propitiate meditation.

glass spiders

In a cave, several hundred feet underground, a mysterious glow can be seen in the distance. Beyond the dark corridors, a strange music fade in as you're getting close. The spiders are here, tall as houses, moving gracefully, feeding their babies, chanting soft lullabies under the crystal dome of a large chamber. One of them approaches and weaves shining threads of sound. You're not really frightened. Actually you feel rather comfortable as you're listening to the friendly speech. Going back ?

vamp

hi, here's the sequel to my previous post, lo-fi vamp. During a jam with a friend, I unearthed the two chords vamp from my memory and we noodled a little bit around it. He recorded my rhythm guitar part and a solo, and said he could be working on it in order to add something more orchestral to these basic tracks. Well, he's got craft but my vamp now sounds like a soft porn movie soundtrack to my ears.

Glow

I made this song last summer (2006). It has the usual synth and drum machine, as well as the addition of a little guitar. Very fast-paced, yet relaxed. Oh, and, of course, it'll someday (maybe) have lyrics.

Montage

an overwhelmingly ambient texture, pierced with many elements of various density - scraped percussion, Latin and bluegrass gestures, strings, somber guitar notes and swirling electronics. Very soundtrack, very visual, particuarly for fans of Gustavo Santaolalla.

How To Fight Loneliness

Cover of a gorgeous Wilco song. This is an extremely spartan interpretation. You may need to turn your volume up.

Engine Soundtrack

An early (circa 1999) experiment with fuzzed out guitars and a super-compressed mix, pushing ambient towards industrial. Psycho-shoegazer?

take this pain

It's a slow starter, and once it gets going it's incredibly repetetive. But, uh, I like it that way. Features moi on vocals (through a simulated guitar amp) and all instruments.

Surface Waters

Drifting across the waves. Some live experimental guitar ambience.
