Want Trouble

Moody, jazzy little tune that explodes towards the end. About the delicious dread of falling in love when both people have baggage. This is my second big attempt at faking swing drums, so pointers would be helpful. As per usual, I started out wanting a sparse mix but it got away from me a bit. [more inside]

Asleep at the Knife

Turns out my version of the serenity prayer involves a lot more quantum sci-fi and psycho-killer imagery. Been working on this for a good while, trying to figure out how to program drums for a slow 6/8 time. Pretty happy with how it finally came together, but I'd love some pointers. Still worried it's a bit too saturated, but that's kinda my MO. Lyrics in the fold. [more inside]

Bach vs. Wurlitzer

I decided to work up a Bach Bourrée (BWV 996) as a belated "do what scares you" challenge, since I don't usually try to play classical music. Soon after I learned it, I couldn't stop myself from messing with the groove, adding touches of swing and Cuban rhythms. [more inside]

I Can Dream, Can't I?

Made famous by The Andrews Sisters in 1949, here I use a beautifully understated jazz guitar version by Pizzarelli and Vignola as backing. It's been a long while since I recorded something to post, so I hope you enjoy it!

Nothing to Say

This is an alt-country-shanty by The Mulligrubs--the band I play bass in. They let me play piano, too, sometimes. We're playing a show tonight in Boston, MA. There's more examples of our smoothness on our MySpace page. [more inside]
