Ride on the Train

Everybody who plays guitar has probably done this at one time or another. Here's my version.

Heh, nice harmonica in there. You're playful and creative with your tracks. The joy of playing shines through. I hope you keep experimenting and then start planning out structures for your ideas to live in, polishing something without taking the fun out. It's not easy to do, but something to strive for, I think.

That was pretty cool! Not that I'm much of a guitar player, but I haven't tried something like that. I will now, though. Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh, I love this. I really do. There was this Brazilian composer who wrote a piece with this theme, called the Country Boy's Little Train ("O Trenzinho do Caipira") I tried to find the song for you, but only found horrible versions, this was the most decent I could find, though it is with a rather small ensemble.

There's also this one, bad quality but interesting as it is the one-man-with-his-guitar version. The original is quite nice, if you have a chance to look it up, I recommend that (or anything by Heitor Vila-Lobos, he was pure genius and no snobbery).

This is a very cool piece, snsranch, and now that you posted it I realized Metafilter Music would never be complete without it.

edlundart: heh, your comment reminds me of my favorite english teacher. She was the only person who really knew how to help me rein it in. So, thanks Teach! I'm on it.

sluglicker: right on!

micayetoca: thanks man, that was a very sweet comment. I checked out those songs and they were very cool. It was great to see the "train" theme expanded like that. I've always thought of it as just a simple thing to entertain kids.
