Melissa may and I kind of cheated on this one. This song has been in our “to release” folder for a year, and has been titled “Snake” until today, so we figured we had to put it up for this challenge. Actually, that’s not entirely true, it was called “Funky Chicken Spittle” for about 8 months, based on the sample of chickens at the beginning (I believe there are the sounds of catfish fighting in here somewhere as well... maybe that’s another song). The sample at the beginning is of a preacher speaking in tongues (glossolalia, if you want to get fancy) and I can’t remember where I got it. If I find it again, I’ll let you know (I thought it was from UBUWEB, but I don’t see it there).

The lyrics are based on D. H. Lawrence’s poem “Snake” and the whispered portions in the middle are actually lines from the poem. DJ Sku and Approach are our friends from Lawrence, KS, and are fantastically talented individuals. We were so glad to have them help us out in the recording. I have this feeling I’ll be spending another few months fussing over the mix...

uf! nice stuff, you two (or four, rather). I think this is my favorite song from the second round of the challenge. (And the sataniscool tag is priceless).

Congratulations, it's a really nice piece.

Hey, I came back here because I was listening to music randomly in iTunes and this song came up and it reminded me how much I like it, then I thought you deserved to hear it, so here it is: what a good song. Congratulations.
