Quick 'n' dirty cover of Mississippi John Hurt's old song played on my resonator guitar. Levels are a bit off, volume jumps up and down a little... but here it is anyway.
The "solo" partway through is actually "Buck Dancer's Choice," by Sam McGee.

Man, I love Mississippi John Hurt (though I didn't know this song) and it sounds great done by you. And that resonator guitar... I've never actually played one. Do they sound very different to you when you are in the same room?

Thanks guys. I bought my resonator guitar used at a little shop in Berkeley for pretty cheap... it definitely makes a very distinctive, crisp, metallic noise that I really love.

Hey, this is brilliant, man. That guitar sounds great, but damn, I guess they all do in your hands.
Since You're such a great picker, I'm curious about what you think of finger picks, ya know the kind that you actually wear. I was taught to use them on banjo but eventually quit, they were a pain in the arse. I bet they would sound good on the resonator though.
Also, do you ever play any folk or bluegrass festivals? I imagine people would love it.

I love that you limited the double-vocals to the end bit. It gives it a lot more, can I say, RESONANCE? Great shizzle.

This is great. A year ago I set out to learn Piedmont style finger picking based on my love for Mr. Hurt, but then something shiny caught my eye and I gave up. This is really a great version of the song. If you take requests, do some Bukka White on your resonator next :)

Nice playing. You've got that John Hurt groove down.
I'm currently working hard at learning good fingerstyle technique, but I've got quite a ways to go to catch up with you.

I've always admired the skilled finger pickers of the world, and you sir fall into that category. What I especially like about the mix you've got here is the percussive slaps from your playing hand that land on somewhat random- but somehow appropriate- beats. Adds a real nice element.
