Reasonably Appropriate Affections

A melody I had in my head for a while that I just had to get out.

Another old chill one that I took a little time to dress up. Drums, bass, guitar, synth, sax, flute, and harmonica.

Very slick this one. Reminds me of funk and soul music from the 70s, a bit blaxploitation.
Are you playing all the instruments?

That video game sounding intro left me TOTALLY unprepared for what followed. (It was sweet how the last few notes of the song tied into to that.)

The body of this song rocked my shit. The blaxploitation thing (FUNK) is like a 1st cousin of straight up jazz and this song takes me for a great ride in BOTH of their neighborhoods.

Harmonica over funky wah guitar? Dammit! I could go on, but I'll just say that, for a white boy, you got helluvalotta soul and groove. Diggin this shit.

Are you playing all the instruments?

The keyboards are sequenced. I played everything else.

for a white boy

LOL... For the record I'm half Puerto Rican, so I have an advantage there.

I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

This is gorgeous.
I didn't see the blaxploitation so much; I think that, unfortunately, any kind of wah action has become an easy shorthand for that, I guess.
It put me more in the mind of the mellower cuts from War's Why Can't We Be Friends, which I love. Beautiful sax work. These are the kind of horns I love, so understated and melancholy. Not all fucking E-Street band wankery NEW YORK SAX SOLO.
Really nice, thanks.

Cooool baby. This has a tinge of classic Blue Note period Wayne Shorter and a frisson of Mingus. Who happen to be amongst my favourites. Really like this and would like to hear more in this vein - very well done.

I was listening to this on the "Stream the RSS feed" thing of the front page, so I was listening to all the songs that were posted recently without knowing who posted what. This started playing and I thought: "wow, that's nice, that must be a new one". I didn't check who posted it because I wanted to hear the song before, and about halfway thru I thought, "nah, it must be dagosto". Though it would be hard to say what was it that gave you away.

I really like that flute/sax vibrato at 0:42. Nice one.
