Where you are

May 18, 2010 7:56 AM

This is a quick little tune about a few people I'll never meet.

My wife and I have this deal; if ever Gerard Butler, Hugh Jackman, or Sean Connery become keen on her, I am not allowed to protest. And if ever Esther Baxter, Jolie Holland, or Salma Hayek take an interest in me, she is obligated to keep quiet about it. Sure, the whole thing's a tongue-in-cheek way to openly lear at people we each find attractive, but I suspect there's a grain of hope in this deal.

In any case, I was eating lunch yesterday and this little guy popped out. I needed a fourth verse, and I really like whisky, so there you go. Let me know what you think.

Lyrics about Esther Baxter! That's something I can get behind.

Cortex - Hey, thanks!

I particularly liked the Salma Hayek verse. This is really charming.

Wow. What a sweet song. The fact that (at least the listener assumes) your wife is singing too really makes the tune work.

mmmbacon - Thanks. Me and Salma go way back.

umbu - Thanks a lot. Though my wife isn't singing on this one, she is making her own version of this song.

*shakes fist at wife's poster of Gerard Butler*

Yeah, that's really nice. I dig the delivery.

I, also, think this is nice. I like that it resolves with the whiskey as the only truly attainable thing.

Uncleozzy - Thanks a lot.

Chococate - Glad you noticed that. Thanks.

This is gorgeous! Great harmonies. Big smile on my face. The piano partway through is a lovely surprise.

Plus I'd never heard of Esther Baxter.
