The Conspiratorial Proof

July 3, 2010 1:43 PM

This song began as a test song for two things: stomping/clapping/snapping out a typical breakbeat and messing around with my new Ashbory Bass. It grew quite a bit from there. I've been sitting on this song for a few months and finally decided today to rerecord some of the trombone bits, though they're still pretty sloppy.

Oh, yeah! I love this. It's so buoyant. How do you like the bass?

it's pretty grand, though I'm not used to fretlessness.

i'd been playing fretless for years when i got an ashbory. i found it really hard work because of the short scale length and the fret markers were next to useless. but they've got a great sound - the bottom end can destroy small buildings...coincidentally, saw this the other day - looks like a rival to it.

anyway, loved the song and the groove. really nicely done.

Yeah, thusfar I've found the Ashbory too much of a pain in the ass to tune and keep in tune, so I haven't been paying attention to the fret markers, anyway. Since I use a lot of toy instruments and old keyboards, everything tends to be tuned a little differently, anyway, so there's a certain amount of being close enough to the notes I'm looking for. That U-Bass looks awesome! Man, I totally want one!

Man, what am I going to sell to be able to buy a uke-bass now? That looks fun.
