Get Up and Go

A simple, rough song I wrote in about 1986 and recorded a couple of years later. This was intended to be a bit of a Buddy Holly sort of thing. I wrote it, sang it, and played crappy guitar.
It was my first time writing a song with lyrics that were intended to be a little bit playful or -- dare I say it -- a tiny bit lustful, instead of a serious relationship or emotion song.
I don't think I am playing bass on it -- I could play it on bass, but it doesn't sound like my playing to me. So I don't know who's on bass. I know I'm not playing the guitar solo, either. Drums I do know -- the drummer is Jon Auer, more well-known as a member of the Posies/Big Star. The drum part was recorded in the basement of the old Posie house on 11th Ave. N.E. in Seattle's U-District, probably in early 1989. (Thanks, Jon!)
The quality is a little rough -- sorry about that. I don't know if I have a better version available. It's another one of those old 80s recordings I have hanging around here, and some of them are in terrible condition.
This one actually got a couple of good reviews from the Rocket's local tape issue, and I think from a few other publications as well. I released it as a cassette single, backed with a song called "Temperamental Lies" that I may not have a copy of anymore. Sold a few copies here and there.

Yeah, I totally hear the Buddy Holly here.
The lyrics get a little forced when "We are dancing to a rock and roll song" come in
I love that line. We are dancing to a rock and roll song!
First time I saw Jon Auer play was with Clay Nörwegian, I think. That was a while ago.

Clay Nörwegian! That's a name I haven't heard in a loooong time.
Thanks for the comments! Maybe I'll rerecord this sometime.
(I should mention that the line is "We're going dancing to a rock and roll song" -- but it's definitely not too clear, there! And, yeah, the lyrics could be better.)

I really like it, you could do an updated version, and really make a golden song for the ages with the base you have here.
