track 4

May 1, 2014 9:13 PM

I'm doing a song-a-week thing with someone I knew in school, and this is what I came up with.

lyrics:

i tried to write a love song, but
it stuck in my throat.

i tried to say, "ooh, hold me, dear,"
but you won't.

yeah, you won't;
you won't.

i know you love chicago, but
i really don't.

i know you tried to 'pologize, but
darling, it's broke.

and you won't;
you won't.

i tried to write a love song, but
it stuck in my throat.

i tried to say, "ooh, hold me, dear,"
but you sure as hell won't.

This is great! I like how the sweetness of your voice contrasts a bit with the negative/pessimistic (or maybe just realistic) vibe of the lyrics. It delivers a bit of edginess in a pleasant package. The bouncy, waltzy guitar works great for the same reason. Nice one!

This is really good stuff. I like it enough that I'd like to hear more.

The underscored pacing in your, combined with your voice, is what makes it for me. This is really an album, all these 'track' songs together.
