Happy Autumn
Irish traditional - Old Friends Set
So I've been consumed with learning Irish traditional music for the past year, and was finally able to trek down to VA to see my old pal Ian and have him help me record a few sets of tunes. This rough mix is so far my favorite of the bunch. [more inside]
Thanksgiving
A thanksgiving experiment, which turned out quite nicely, I think. [more inside]
Enigmas
Fun with drones and LFOs. Could probably pass as an Enigma tribute, thus the name.
Old Joe
A popular 19th century minstrel tune with fretless banjo, tambourine and vocals. (Different from the old-time tune by the same name, and not related to Old Joe Clark either.) Lyrics as recorded are not offensive.* [more inside]
Frog
Live tweaking glitchy percussion loops, with warm synths to sweeten the deal.
Trampoline
This is the first thing I have almost finished from my trip out to the middle of nowhere. [more inside]
Golden Mushroom
If you are wondering if this is a Mario Kart reference the answer is YES IT SURE IS
Talk Dirty To Me
Completely inspired by this AskMe thread from yesterday. All of the sung lyrics are taken from it. It is...well....as dirty a thing as I have ever made. [more inside]
Metafilter Orchestra - Pandora's Music Box
Metafilter Music Collaboration #2 is finished! This song involves 20 MeFites collaborating on an original song -- Exquisite Corpse style, which means that each contributor only got to hear one other contribution. Full credits and details inside. [more inside]
Together (You are not alone)
Short, vaguely uplifting sample-based beat. [more inside]
How Jesus is Made or Thank You and Goodnight
I haven't made anything in awhile; I guess I just used up all my stored inspiration. [more inside]
I Overshot You (Demo)
This one is probably about reiterated obviousnesses and vain hopes regarding poorly plotted relationship trajectories, but what do I know, I just wrote and sung it.
Oh, and the guitar tuning was EADGBD, capoed to the fourth fret. [more inside]
Yow
I finished this with about 5 minutes to spare before turning 30. [more inside]
The Biggie Blues
What do you get when cross Notorious B.I.G, Geeshie Wiley, and a subsonic dnb bass? You get The Biggie Blues my friends.
AND
Acid-ambient space dub loops. This is a live jam I did with a friend while visiting him in Seattle.
The rig was comprised of me playing small and very slow beat loops in Traktor at BPMs relationally fractional to a master tempo of 110 BPM, while my friend looped samples in Live, both from prerecorded and live samples from mixboard outputs and sends. There is a Macbook microphone involved in the sampling of the room and as a feedback and reverb source. There is no shared MIDI clock in use - all tempo/pitch control is manual, and listen for long beat-count tempo-drifts of loop components, which are manipulated and intentional.
The majority of this dub takes place as variations of two beats in one "measure", sometimes four but never more.
This cut of the track is the last ten minutes of approximately one hour of play and loop building. It is pre-release version intended for derivitive works, remixes and redubs. (If you wish to remix, sample, splice, loop, fuck, deconstruct or otherwise destroy this track, I would vastly prefer that you please contact me via the email in my profile for the uncompressed and unprocessed file and the full Creative Commons license. Please do not use this low-bitrate file.)
