Does this belong in a movie?
There's a song with words and stuff that this was originally based on, but I like the instrumental version better.
Mellow, textured, haunting, builds slowly. What do you think?
Titry / Live and Let Die
Let's throw in a juxtaposition in sonic terms just for the sake of diversity. Here is a free download of Ummagma 'Titry', alongside one right here for 'Live and Let Die'.
The first is an instrumental folky track somewhat like Peter, Bjorn and John's 'Young Folks' crossed with Tortoise (with their more upbeat side of postrock).
The second is also upbeat in the best shoegazey dreamy fashion - but with ethereal yet solid vocals... Enjoy both :) [more inside]
almost time
This is a guitar-only outtake from another song I did. I was going to use it as a outro on that song but the original clocked in a 9 minute time already so it got discarded. But still, I like the feeling of it...especially as it's guitar with no other instruments ;)
native
I was really happy with this one when I first recorded it about 19 months ago. Listening to it now, I realise it was given way too much compression in the mastering phase. unfortunately I have lots the master project now with a faulty hard drive so it it what it is... [more inside]
Lawn Mower Times
Another combination of Guitar vs. Keyboards. Guitar gets the first move this time.
J.S. Bach
When the radiant bliss of classical music comes to enter the realm of dream pop ambient downtempo, something serene yet pensive may be the result, as in the case of this track.
Initially when we composed this track, there were lyrics and vocals, but then our computer blew and somehow the vocals didn't survive. Today it is an instrumental.
downshift
So...I didn't think I'd have time to work on a new song but the last 24 hours have freed up so... [more inside]
Titry
Since music is a powerful force capable of evoking an endless array of images to one's mind, this represents just the diverse dynamic space, vocal free, to be a canvass for whatever the listener can dream up. This is for dreaming, after all :)
where's the exit?
Just another instrumental rock song. A few more electronic elements added in this time but overall, still very much guitar based.
carefully optimistic
I thought I'd try to write something more upbeat. I couldn't think of a vocal melody so I just filled it with different guitar parts.

just a rock song (instrumental). I played around a lot with some organs and synths but still guitar based overall...
Bach
This track makes it a lot easier to imagine how the classical work of J.S. Bach could be meshed into a dreampop track, something that is rarely seen or at least, that is rarely pulled off well (The Verve and The Farm come to mind as other successful cases of this happening). [more inside]
1+1=3 (revisited)
Some songs take you on a trip (and bring you back), while others just send you drifting endlessly and blissfully. For us, this song belongs to the latter, building layers of layers of sound and effects - like new galaxies being opened. [more inside]
Astronomical Summer 2
The pulsing drive of this tune unquestionably has a swaying effect and, taken together with this song's layers and subtleties seems to make all the difference. Sway sway sway!!! [more inside]
Visualization
This instrumental explores not only ambiences and walls-of-sound seemingly inspired directly by cosmic travels, but also features electronics, samples, drones, and beautifully melodies peppered with a lot of dissonance, creating sonic tapestries perfectly suited for reflecting, reading an Arthur C. Clarke (or Isaac Asimov) book and taking a journey through the stars. This is Sounds of Sputnik.
Ambiguous Sense of the Future
Post-rock always seems embedded with the sense that something is dire; however, shake it up a bit to get a kind of post-rock indie shoegaze vinaigrette and Sounds of Sputnik is likely what you would come up with. This is Ambiguous Sense of the Future.
Adaptation
Soundscapes are part of the fabric for various genres of music and this song creates one merging several genres, yet is still hard to put your finger on.
Numbers
A semi-instrumental song given a second life after a decade in the demo wilderness. [more inside]
Eastern Legend
Mrs. Archivist and I are collaborating on musical project. Recording includes acoustic and electric guitars, synths, traps, accordion, and cello. [more inside]
Chupacabra
Another track from my last-minute RPM Challenge entry, "The Very Best of Spaz Rock - Volume I: Monsters of Spaz." Kind of a laid back, funky/clunky little number with soothing moments. [more inside]
theme from "gone"
return of the panda
Imagined Hungarians waltzing instrumental style.
