My first foray into generative music; bass drone with four layers of percussion on top

ageispolis, thanks. Actually there is a generative basis for AI language generators. :-) Wiki's page on it is pretty lame, but here it is:

Basically the music "composes itself", although you have to setup some parameters and rules for it to do so. Here's the tutorial I used:

ageispolis, you need to read how generative theory is applied to music.
I recommend checking out
A generative theory of tonal music by Ray Jackendoff who extends a lot of chomsky ideas into music. He even spoke at google once, cool guy.

Furthermore i recommend exploring use of Max/msp as a great way to great generative music.
