Beach Erosion

July 1, 2013 12:49 PM

This is a song from my band Blackwolf Beach. We are from Baltimore, MD. I think we sound like punk/melodic hardcore/noisey stuff. There are two other mefites in this band! Josher71 plays guitar and sings sometimes, and petulantbeard plays drums and sings sometimes. I play guitar and sing sometimes.

We are brand new. We recorded this song at our practice space and did vocals at my house later. This song is about ....our feelings. I hope you like it!

Nice, I don't listen to much punk but this is good. You might want to consider a bit of reverb on the vocals.

Yeah this is ace! Reverb might add something to it, I'm not certain, but if you did put some on the vocals then try a short, slapback verb or delay.

I'm not a huge fan of the screamy vocal over the last section cause it feels a bit incongruous with the rest of the song but I'm not a huge hardcore fan either so *shrug*

Thanks for the comments guys! The screamy bits at the end are sort of a nod to this 90's hardcore emo stuff that we were into back in the day. (we're like in our mid thirties now but our hearts are still in 1997 or something.) Also, Ryan was in a bunch of death metal and crust bands.

We will probably re-record this for an EP or 7" or something at the end of august, and yeah we'll try some reverb on the vox for sure! I am really glad you dig it!

Another great track. But I do tend to agree with greenish that the screamo vocals in the second half are kinda jarring - actually I think more because they're a little too "Cookie Monster", which makes it seem a bit dated. I think a more "classic" hardcore approach (and boy, doesn't it feel weird to type THAT phrase) of just straightforward yelling might work better. Think Keith Morris (Circle Jerks/Black Flag/Off!)
