Music to soothe the soul of the savage

I've recently started building a playlist of quickly produced lofi recordings of live performances of what I'm calling "Creeper Ballads," covers of songs from the POV of problematic or unreliable male narrators who are either unrepentant creeps or who might be. The project is therapeutic for me, a way to vent unruly emotions and manage the stress of the ongoing political crisis and social breakdown in the U.S. and other painful setbacks I've been facing in my personal life. There must be others out there who've been making music to cope? Share and discuss what you've been doing creatively as therapy with the rest of us here. [more inside]

One Song To the Genre Of Another

Which Guitar Amp?

My local music shop has a used 35 watt Sundown SD-CJ-35 Clone Jr guitar amp for $99; they also have a new 20 watt Fender Champion at the same price. I'm not finding a lot of information about the Sundown on the internet, so I'm a little hesitant to choose it. [more inside]

Amp "splitter" - plug more into one amp input

Is there such a thing that allows me to plug two things into one thing on an amp the way there is a thing that allows one to plug two headphones into one headphone slot? I keep googling things like "amp splitter" but clearly my terminology is lacking here. I want to plug in a guitar and a microphone into one input.

The best part of breaking up

Hi Mefites! The company I now work for hosts music competitions and gig listings on the world wide web. We've got one contest lined up right now that actually could pay well and be a pretty cool career boost too so I thought it'd be appropriate to broadcast to this community, even though it does cost money to sign up for our site (10-12$/month) So far we haven't actually had too many appropriate entries so anyone who sends one in has a decent shot at the contest picking them! Red's On Strike

After nearly ten years my band Red On Strike is calling it quits. Our singer Yvonne has been building a new career and just hasn't had time to be in a band - without her it isn't ROS, so it is time to move on. Kind of bittersweet for me, as this is my first band so I am going to really miss it. But it is also an opportunity to work on something new, which is pretty exciting. We're forming a new band with our bass player Steve and his stepson Levi on guitar with me, so if you know a drummer or vocalist in the LA area let me know. [more inside]

Need Help Finding Chord Chart

My wife and I are hoping to cover Astrud Gilberto's standard/classic "Dreamer" (see All Music Guide entry here), and while I think I could probably work out the chords for myself if I ever had time, time has been in short supply and recently I've been looking unsuccessfully for sheet music or a fake book or chord charts for the song. Do any of my fellow MeFites have any tips on where I might be able to track down the chords to this classic Bossa Nova tune?
