Your Destroyer

This is a rough mix of a nearly finished tune. Wanted to unleash it a bit early.
I've been recording in fits and starts over the last year. At certain points I had decided I was done with music. But the muse had not released me. This tune came out in about an 8 hour recording block, though the ideas for it came out over a much longer period.
Still want to add some backing vocals and maybe clean up some of the piano and give it a serious mix.

Thanks edlundart, good tips. I've done very little to mix it and I'll hand that over to my guy fairly shortly. I was hoping to canvas some folks to sing harmonies in the chorus, because I think it could lift (as you say) a bit more. Cheers.

Don't quit making music - just take a break if that's what's needed. Cause this is really quite good. I like edlundart's suggestion for a "lift" as well - something in a higher register seems appropriate. Could even be a guitar part?

Boy, I agree completely with edlundart. I haven't been on the Music subsite in months (years?!) and this is the first thing I happen to stumble into and click on and to think you've contemplated being done with music?
No thank you, please don't. Hell, I finally decided to do a permanent Music bookmark and create a playlist to collect things in because I dig this so much.

Thanks guys, I've realize that I will never be able to quit music. I'll be walking down the street and start going "doo doo doo doo" in my head, and then the drums kick in, then chorus.

Damn good song, and damn impressive for a rough mix.

Quitting music is impossible. Music will only let you go when it's good and damn ready, and judging from this track, it's not done with you... This is very cool!

Fuck this is so good. I'm so sad that you've closed your account, and also that this has been available for a year and a half and I've deprived myself of it by not getting around to checking in with MeMusic.

Sonically and rhythmically interesting, as is so often the case with your tracks. And, the melodic flow of it carries your signature, which is one you know I like. For a final mix, I think what I'm personally searching for in it is some kind of "lift" in the chorus. The song sounds inside itself, which is maybe part of the appeal of the soundscape. But part of me wants something to break out of the dense mids in the chorus -- for air and light to be brought in, as contrast to the rest. I can see how this might work contrary to your mission with this song, but that's what my ear wants.
The ending is truly perfect.
