The Jackal

This song is not exactly new (it's only slightly younger than Forwards/Back), but I didn't properly finish recording it until tonight. The levels/panning in a couple places could maybe use a little more tweaking to help everything in the mix stand out, but it's correct enough for now.

That was so fun, I had to turn it WAY up. Probably pissed off some neighbors, but, oh well.

As long as the lyrics don't make them think that you are waiting in their home to kill them, you're probably OK.

lol i put this on my "commute" cd for my car. I have a large music amplification system in my automobile. 2/3rds of the way through the song I felt interesting vibrations in my body.
I would like... more.... of this music. for my.... research....

But when I finally got around to recording most of the vocals (the verses, the doubled chorus vocals, the doubled stuff at the end), it felt too sparse.
After trying a couple different ways of adding some more texture to the song, I eventually hit on sampling little slices of my vocals to add some extra layers of rhythm towards the end and a couple weird noises (the buzzy synth sound mentioned earlier, and that rhythmic buzzing sound at the end that plays all the way out till the end of the song).
Compressing this one to mp3 changed the characteristics of a couple of the sounds used. One in particular that shows up in the chorus is dirtied up noticeably comapred to the lossless version. It sounds okay either way, but it is a little different than the lossless version I've got.
I think this one turned out pretty well.
