Things Are Getting Frightening

With this tune I reveal once again my unscrupulous leftist agenda by *politicizing* Halloween. And the video introduces an old friend of mine, Esmerelda the Skeleton. Hell of a gal, mighty fine dancer.

Prelude to Nightmare Night

A minor-key, rondo-like composition for piano, bass, percussion, and various squelchy electronic bits. Hail the coming of Princess Luna! [more inside]

mmHg — ...and the glory...

I accidentally played a 022000 E minor chord as 033000. I liked the sound, and soon had a horror song for Halloween. :) It's a simple, rolling/grinding, number. Hope you enjoy!

Dark and Scary

My friend Bill got hit by a car while riding his bike in San Raphael, California last month. He's been in a coma, and broke his vertebrae, collarbone, ribs, and has been on a respirator, critical. He has a history of alcoholism, and meth. He came to the midwest because his mother was dying, and after she did, there were ghosts in her house. We wrote and recorded this three years ago when he was in the midwest in 2007. I was planning on finishing it for Halloween this year. But now it makes more sense to me. Wow. Sometimes music transcends time and space. [more inside]

No One Lives Forever

On this Day of the Dead, I bring you this festive reminder: no matter where you run, no matter where you hide, the Grim Reaper will catch you. He'll also catch your cat, he'll catch your dog, he'll catch your goldfish; he's gonna get us all. [more inside]

Halloween 97/98

Little ditty about young love, the joys of suburban Massachusetts in autumn, and the allure of all those wonderful things behind the counter at drugstores. [more inside]

Made in FL Studio in about 40 minutes, in response to a friend's last-minute request for a silly halloween song to play on her radio show. Though I really didn't intend on it, the intro sort of sounds like the intro to the Ghostbusters theme... with scream samples.

The Dangers of Buying an Older House

A moody composition on behalf of the things in our new house that very much want us to know we were there first. Happy Halloween! [more inside]

The Girl at the End of the Road

I guess this might be interpreted as a stream-of-consciousness horror story. There's maybe three or four different autoharp tracks here, including a distorted autoharp that I really dig. And a backwards autoharp! These autoharps say "Happy Halloween!" [more inside]

Demented Children's Songs

A nightmarish take on children's music. I always imagine myself stuck in a carnival funhouse being chased around by evil clowns when I listen to this. From 1995 and one of the first songs I ever wrote. Some completely out of control layering towards the end! [more inside]

Creature From the Deep

I bought an old box of Fruit Brute on eBay last week and it had one of those paper records attached to it. The song was so rad, I had to digitize it to share with MeFi. [more inside]

a quick and dirty version of the monster's reaction to promises. A lament for the most famous of the walking dead. Some Waxman implied.

Haunted House

This was recorded to play on our front porch on Halloween night. The kids are using our "low voice" tech and they're improving so it might not make sense during some parts. I think it's fun and I like the music, it's a bit Elfmanesque. Enjoy.
