Swingin' Pete
Recorded in one take using my Korg S3, Arturia KeyStep, Roland JX-8P (bass, via KeyStep), Roland JD-XA (chords), SC-88 (arpeggio) and Korg Monologue (triggering SC-88 using sequencer)
learningToFade_01-13-2022
I sort of learned how to fade out a song on LogicPro. [more inside]
Make Right the Time
This is my synth-based anthem cover of the song by singer/songwriter Danny Schmidt. This version is an earlier draft from 2018, mostly from a whirlwind month when I was trying to get as much done before my trial of Ableton Live ended. Me on vocals, synth/loops. Many thanks to not_on_display for the arrangement idea and feedback through multiple iterations. Basically I made this to help myself feel better, and I figure it's something I could share especially now. [more inside]
And the Sunrise Welcomes You Home
A short instrumental piece (featuring synth) in which I basically have fun building from a loop. This is my entry for the MeFi Music challenge to submit music inspired by a MeFi post (I Saw This Thing On The Blue And...). Credit actually goes to three MetaFilter-related posts from last month: two MeFi posts by not_on_display and one MeFi Music post by ignignokt; they inspired me to create electronic music again after a decade+ hiatus. A new take on a classic midi
I Got You Babe
Tropical karaoke mix of the Sonny and Cher classic
Nightmare Tunnel
Loops of slow disorienting guitar noises, and other sound wierdness. Sections fade in and out of one another, building and cresting. I picture it akin to an adult version of riding on Willy Wonka's fucked-up boat ride. [more inside]
F'n Amazing
More electronic beats! I was going to wait until I had finished a whole song before I posted this, but who am I kidding? This is probably it. I think I'm getting better at making virtual instruments though. If not better, louder at least.
Nirvana- Zappa
I know I uploaded a previous version. But now I've completed a solo part with my friends who played lead guitar and pedal steel. The rest is me trying to work out this Zappa tune with my own words, midi instruments,
and staying true to the basic idea, western theme, music, but with a 'now' twist. I hope you enjoy it, and send me any thoughts that might occur to your wild elephant mind.
Green
Green-colored acoustic guitar midi. [more inside]
Penumbrella
A short echoey piece for keyboard.
Baroque^N
My first attempt at composing a song using musescore. A bit of a baroque feel to it. (not any real training so I may have broken lots of rules of composition :P)

Am Irish-styled song about a girl for a brass quartet, harmonica, and a big bass drum. [more inside]
Song 2
Written for a cello friend. Apologies for the low volume level and the minute of silence at the end.
Pull Out My Teeth
This is a little composition I did in MIDI some years ago, which I found recently and opened in GarageBand. If anyone is interested in playing it on some real instruments, I'd be happy to provide the original MIDI file, which you could probably print out as sheet music if you are crafty enough.
slinky
This is an experiment to see if I can create a drum machine beat that swings. [more inside]
Enough
Mostly midi version made when I was studying sound engineering. We had to do a song for an assignment using Logic. I took an old vocals and acoustic song of mine and re-jigged with awful out of time drumming and wacky samples. Got a decent mark too.
Life and Death of a Circus Clown
This song consists of two parts: the life of the clown, and the funeral of the clown. [more inside]
Quantum Mechanics
In the early 1990s I had a spare bedroom full of MIDI equipment (including a 16-channel mixer and various effect units) and I liked to noodle around with it. This is the only complete piece I ever produced. It's an instrumental strongly influenced by the likes of Tangerine Dream, the Alan Parsons Project, and Synergy.
No Reason (broken Casio mix)
