Away
This song was recorded with my old band, Niche, 7 years ago. That's me as an angsty teenager, putting on my best impression of mid-90's alternative. [more inside]
NSFW
A rehearsal demo for my Irish-American garage band, The Peter O'Tooles; revised from an earlier version. [more inside]
joe's last mix
A fantastic piece of symphonic music with deep connections to electronica, joe's last mix by Tanner Menard is a fun ride (this performance is by one of my ensembles with me conducting). I've posted this before, but he and I are doing something different with the piece, and I'm wondering if any of you are interested in participating.... [more inside]
Royal Quiet Deluxe
This is a live recording of Royal Quiet Deluxe, my band from 1998. The track features manipulated drum machines and vocals, bass, and two chickens playing keyboards. [more inside]
Let the Band Play On
Part of my Old Songs project. A moody tune from 1999 about the terminus of a relationship. [more inside]
Wasted Hearts
A love song to the state of Michigan. [more inside]
workshop
Rehearsals : three tunes that we (a big band) were to play on stage in a small jazz festival in Millau, Aveyron, southern France.
The Semi-Coherent Funk
A 1 minute, 43 second ditty. This was the first thing I did when I got Garage Band 2 years ago. All the drum loops are stock, and I'm riffing on bass & "lead" bass. I improvised over the groove until I got something I liked, then looped it.
The competitors
A song written with my friend Will (who does the main singing, me the secondary) for a movie another friend is making about two guys going after the same girl.
Color of Love
Off my band's demo.
The New One
This is my former band, Heat Lorraine. I'm lead guitar on this track.
We had broken up already when we played this show. There was a lot of resentment floating around. We'd all had a few drinks before we went on, but our lead singer (and rhythm guitarist) Brian was drinking with a vengence.
