Ten Years in a Hundred Dollar Suit (vox up)
I pushed the vocal track a couple of dB on this track I posted yesterday as several people suggested. See what you think. [more inside]
Ten Years in a Hundred Dollar Suit
So Aimee Mann and Bruce Springsteen are in a bar discussing the greatness that is Living on a Prayer, but what they haven't noticed is that Toto are at the next table, and Sonic Youth just walked in the back... [more inside]
Simple Town (Full Version)
Feisty powerpop version of the a capella song I posted for the challenge. Man, this was another freakin' difficult song to mix, not least because it was the first one I did on my Yamaha HS50m monitors which Chococat recommended. You know when you go to the bathroom in the middle of the night in a hotel and accidentally turn on the overhead fluorescents and catch yourself stark naked in the most unflattering, pore-revealing detail and sort of gasp in horror? These speakers are like that. You fight them every inch of the way, not trying to get the song sounding good, but just to stop it sound so goddamn bad. [more inside]
Shotgun
The only good thing about having a sore throat is that for a brief window of time I can hit some low notes. I was too sick today to concentrate on any real work but this was lying around half-finished so I took it another quarter of the way. Don't Fool Me (Fixed Mix)
Final mix of the song I posted a couple of days ago incorporating a couple of changes suggested by uncleozzy. [more inside]
The Pink Raincoat (studio version)
Sometimes songs come easy and sometimes they come hard. Everything about this one was hard. The final, sweated over, version of a song I posted a rough demo of a few weeks ago. Hopefully the results are worth it! [more inside]
You & San Francisco -- Big Hair Mix feat. Major Dundee
At long last, the remix of Y&SF with new vocals and Major Dundee's guitar work incorporated. [more inside]
You and San Francisco (studio version)
Don't Fool Me
Full on vocal harmony twin electric 12-string assault, my attempt to collide the Monkees with the Byrds with a side of the Go-Betweens. [more inside]
snake (demo)
Another entry in my recent demo series of posts. I posted a not-quite-done version of the track here, featuring piano and overly heavy drums. It's a song about the old classic video game "Snake". I'm sure I'll revisit the "proper" recording some day, but in the meantime, this is a nice performance. [more inside]
