You & San Francisco -- Big Hair Mix feat. Major Dundee

October 25, 2010 12:27 PM

At long last, the remix of Y&SF with new vocals and Major Dundee's guitar work incorporated.

There's another version coming with the guitar solo given its own choruses but this is the radio mix -- I actually really like the interplay of guitar and vocals in the final choruses (I ducked the guitar with a compressor, but I don't think it's too obvious). It really lifts the song towards the end, since the choruses now have somewhere further to go rather than just restating the same vibe as the first two.

Thanks, Major! Hope it suits you.

As a one time San Franciscan, I love the song, both the music, and the lyrics. You captured some things about SF and the time that I can relate to.

I love the guitar work, and your movement throughout the song.

I'm friends with Tunewell. Maybe we can actually do some internetworking on some songs one of these days.

I'm posting one I hope you like next called: Getting Poison Ivy.

Thanks! On detailed listening some of the harmonies sound a bit sloppy in timing to me so I think I'm going to fix that, but I do genuinely get shivers every time Major Dundee's guitar comes roaring in after the 'funeral pyres' line.

Great sound unSane and a truly special song. A privilege to play on it. Don't know what's happening with those vocal harmonies though - timing a little out? Not sure that the vocals and main guitar solo at the end really work - they're kind of fighting with each other. But I would say that, wouldn't I?

You may be right, Major. I'm working on another mix!
