Young people questioning morally ambiguous, age-old disputes. Singing about it...through me. Also about hot fudge. Yum. YUM.

I've started a blog on which I post a new song a day...this is the third one (last Wednesday). That's the story behind this song. It's about trying to hold on to a time and place (or at least that's what I said in the post). [more inside]

My first deliberately-written country music song. Or is it western? Or roots music? Can't tell, as I cheered for the winning side in the Civil War. ;-) You can detect a few inadvertent influences, to be sure, but let me know what you think. [more inside]

This was one of those late jam sessions that turned into an early morning song writing session. This melody originated to the sun coming up over the field in my back yard. Its reasons like this that make me thankful we always left a mic on record while we hung out. I'm on mandolin, my friend is playing guitar.

My friend and I play a lot of acoustic music around local coffee shops in town. Here's one of the many mandolin tunes we wrote in my living room last summer. I'm on mandolin and my friend is playing backup guitar.

A song by my band, the Notes and Scratches, kind of about Vivian Eliot and featuring a bunch of water. I sing and play the acoustic and the harmonium.

Let's call it EMOldtimey. Or, really, let's not. It's not a damned clean rendition, but with this old heartbreaker you don't have to be. My pre-verbal niece was purported to love it, and that's good enough for me.
