An atheist's song about the nature of politics and religion in the U.S.

he's infected with religion
it is a powerful disease
and when it's time for a new leader
it is a switch we'll make with ease

cuz all the men who came before him
and all the presidents to come
present exciting new illusions
that are the very same in sum

they all believe we're being guided
at least they know to say it's true
hey if there were a god in heaven
why in the world would we need you?

(there is a limit to our power
but we keep granting it to you)

you wouldn't talk about messiah
if you did what you're here to do
you wouldn't talk about messiah
if you did what you're paid to do

he is speaking to the base
in the electoral race
everyone can see god's grace
in the look upon his face

Very nice. And, if you don't mind my opinion, I think in the "cuz all the men who came before him" you could introduce some sort of light percussion, the kind that's not even noticeable unless you pay real attention (and you have a very good hand for subtlety). The reason for that is that as it is, the song has a very ethereal quality, which is not bad, of course, but the subtle percussion could respect that, while helping carry the listener throughout the song.

Of course, if that ethereal sound is what you were going for, you nailed it, and you shouldn't pay attention to the above paragraph.

Thx for posting it.

Thanks for the input, micayetoca. I've been on this no-beat kick lately, I don't know why. I guess because I kind of suck at beats. If anyone listening to this feels like doing some beats for this track, feel free to give it a go.

By the way, the bass on this track was played by my frequent bass collaborator Riadsala.

This is a beautiful song, man. And although I'm kind of a Christian or something, I totally agree. Thanks for posting it.
