This is about 6 passes of live-looping that all fit together nicely with the same mood (bleak, minimal, meditative) and tonality.

A disquieting quasi-ambient piece from January, 1999, which was among my first purely software-synthesized efforts. I think I was listening to a lot of Oval at the time.

As the unimaginative title suggests, this is my entry for the April MeFi Music challenge. It's an ambient type of thing, largely made from reversed guitar recordings.

Whispy male vocals and plenty of air for dream-weaving delicately frame this ethereal song. While "Photographer" is one of Ummagma's more melancholy songs, it's far from depressing. This one stands in the light.
Features male vocals by Alexx Kretov (Ukraine).

A love for the golden 4AD era, Pink Floyd and the likes of David Sylvian have all been woven into the thread of this music. "Lama" was both inspired by these bands and reflects their contribution to a new generation of musicmakers. Looking forward, but knowing where our roots lie… I sincerely hope you will all enjoy this Ummagma track.

It's been a while, and I figured I should come back with something wholly new (albeit about 4 months old). I've been holding out on posting this because, frankly, it's the most personal thing I've ever produced.

So closes another chapter of the Gyrophonic discography. We end
Step Outside with two tracks, which elide into each other. The second track begins around the 4'20" mark.

An ambient-ish track I made as an attempt to make a videogame-soundtrack kind of thing. Made with Ableton Live, Sylenth, Predator and Absynth.

my friend found and hacked a dollar-store musical toy duck...and this piece is made of the awful and fascinating sounds we made with it.

Part of a "music-each-day-for-a-year" project I'm doing. The bell sounds are all kitchen items (wineglasses, pizza cutters); my friends Ben Opie, Ben Harris and Dave Bernabo add some contrabass clarinet, violin, piano and oscillators, sampled from
Ben Opie's CD release show. [more inside]

This began as an improvised piece involving a Poly Evolver synth, a Memory Man pedal, and an iPhone running Moog Filtatron. Then I decided to bury everything in noise, fuzz and tape flutter until it became nigh-unlistenable. Enjoy!

This is an environmental sound recording: rush hour commuters descend a staircase at Tokyo's Akihabara Station. You'll hear the dopey little melody (twice in a row) that they play for every train that pulls in, the clatter of feet as commuters rush down the stairs, the ambient bird call recordings they play in the station, and the pre-recorded announcements. Video
here, which is the third clip so far at my new YouTube channel,
