Mama Fish
My submission for the "A change would do you good" challenge. Cover/translation of La Maman des Poissons by Boby Lapointe. [more inside]
Se Rapprocher
For the Great Request Raffle, I was assigned Move Closer, by Phyllis Nelson.
I'd actually never heard the song before but on repeated listenings it really grew on me. Great slow groove.
Some of the lyrics were super-cheesy so I thought a solution would be to sing it in a different language. Maybe French?
Then it occurred to me to go FULL ON SERGE GAINSBOURG and here we are. [more inside]

As kids
A short instrumental, played over an old tape of me reading something in French as a kid. [more inside]
Weighin' me down
English, French, backup vocals, slide, banjo, bam!
to dream
late night meeting with a street musician, near saint anne, in Montpellier. Lots of things to say, many songs in his bag, mostly sharing the same chords (!?). Nice feeling.
short trip
Ever been in a french train station ? Recorded as I was coming back from playing with Edouard (whose amplified saxophone is included). NOISE 20 secs into the recording (that's for humannaire) - but it ends as smooth as usual (guitar outro). Bits of usual threatening, complaining, philosophing... in french (and english).
breaking up
Hi,
this is the sequel to my previous post : old french song. Actually, this song was the following one we sang during the concert in the church "des frères prècheurs", Arles, in 2006.
old french song
hi,
what about a trip to southern France, with an occitan traditional sung by a choir ?
Overheated
I recently dislocated my shoulder, and assumed music was out of the picture for a month or two. But I was getting pissed off at not playing, and discovered if I capoed everything up really high and didn't play anything too fancy, my arm could handle short bursts of pickin'. So I made a simple song, part French and part English.
Oh mon cher
A short song in French complete with banjo and an electric chord organ, which thankfully only has a few keys so can be played by a chump like me.
Ein Nichtnicht
A track built upon Oswaldian traditions, cutting up German minimalist electronic samples with a bit of piano from the Romantic era.
N'entre pas
A rough mix of a few languages and my dad's guitarone.
