I needed this challenge to get away from the song I've been slowwwwly working on otherwise. I recorded some of it last year, but heavily edited and added onto it last night, and then trimmed it down to a slim fifty-seven seconds. Song 14 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno series.
Jessamyn bought me a really nice sounding small guitar, twenny bux with all the trimmings! I'd also just bought a really sweet Yeti Blue mic off Craigslist for $25. What a bargain! So this is how I tested the two out. [more inside]
Featuring the voice of greenish as the Computer. I thought it would be fun to do it slower, using mostly analog instruments and a computer to record it, in juxtaposition to how Kraftwerk originally recorded it in 1981 (using computer instruments and I'm guessing analog tape). Also I was feverish with Lyme Disease while I recorded it. Song #11 in Unu Kanto Po Semajno.
Song #10 in Unu Kanto Po Semajno was an attempt to create some soothing ambient music, like blips and bleeps you'd hear on SomaFM's Space Station channel. However, It came out a twisted mutant, as you will discover. Wellpp, keep MeFi weird! Go ahead... press play, close your eyes and relaaaax.....
#9 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno series (42 to go!) was going to have lyrics about meeting John Fahey at an autograph signing meet & greet-type event at a Safeway supermarket, where he was signing copies of his new cereal called Homegas. A conversation ensues, and then the chorus was the advertising jingle for Homegas cereal. It never got that far though, 'cause I decided I liked the music better this way and in my mind's ear, rather than to try and jam that much story into such a short timeframe. Also, time to move on!
For song #8 of Unu Kanto Po Semajno, we answer the question, "What happens when not_on_display figures out he can just drag .mp3's into Garageband and manipulate them?" Some funky goddamn psychedelic shit, you'd better believe. [more inside]
For GregNog's Mefi Cover Challenge and Song #7 in the Unu Kanto Po Semajno collection, I roped greenish and her awesome set of pipes all the way in from across the ocean! [more inside]
Keep Your Hands to Yourself (Georgia Satellites cover, Interpolated with "The Theme to The Great White North" and Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Free No. 10")
...in Sleng Teng Riddim style, no less. Song #5 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno series. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE SILLY. [more inside]
For song #4 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno project, I assembled clips from a BBC Sound Effects CD in a rhythmic way. It's a duet! Possibly NSFW.
It cannot be emphasized enough. Song #3 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno series steals one from the Dead Kennedys' playbook. [more inside]
Song #2 in my Unu Kanto Po Semajno series, where I am attempting to record one song per week in 2016. This song represents the period of Jan 9 through Jan 22. (I'm already off by a week, but I'll catch up.) [more inside]
A short instrumental I wrote on the bass in 1989, but never got around to recording until now. This is song #1 in my series "Unu Kanto Po Semajno" where I plan to record approximately one song per week during 2016. This song covers the period January 1 through January 8.
