more noughties breakbeat juvenilia [more inside]
brash, downbeat electro. one part melancholy, two parts wibbly wobbly bass
lowfi dubby/dnb experiment
While the punchy percussion and funky synth imply action, the final chord in this short instrumental evokes the final shot of the theme song for a procedural drama. If you've got an action procedural series missing a theme song, I may have found it over here. [more inside]
It's time for more robo-jams! This song is procedurally generated and has eleven key changes. [more inside]
The Uneven Staircase
Careful, it has odd time signatures.
This is for Looptober! It's three 3.5 second loops repeated 25 times. There's two dryer parts and one bass part. It's one of those attempts to make the irregular seem regular through repetition.
Outside Context Problem
Guitar + bass + programmed drums. Instrumental. Gets noisy and saturated at times.
The should have killed us when they had the chance
Slow burn instrumental. Bass, guitar, my son on keys (he's 13 today!). [more inside]
Out Of Context Problem
Ambient instrumental. Just bass + guitar.
A Series Of Unlikely Explanations
Post-rock instrumental. Guitar, bass, programmed drums.
Not Disquieting At All
Free-form dark instrumental jam. Bass, guitar, keys, programmed drums, traffic noise. [more inside]
Guitar Instrumental. A rework of an old piece of mine. Just got a bass guitar, so of course it's pretty high in the mix.
Electronics + Piano. Lots of harmonic and rhythmic drive.
It Don't Matter Who's First In Line
My golly, it's been years since I posted here! Shame on me. I miss the MeMu community. I recently released an album of kids' music, and thought I'd share a tune here. It's a classroom song about that age-old problem: cutting in line. [more inside]
Tough Love Black Eye
Punk, metal, jazz, slack, folk and noise. This pretty much typifies the grab bag that was my band, Big Ghost. Like trying to get Pavement and RHCP to agree on California rock. It's a mess, but it was our kinda mess. [more inside]
my idea 21
Quick song recorded this morning on Music Memo with (automatically added) bass and drums, and some synthesizers and (fair warning) voice-cracking singing. [more inside]
Fuck The Sad
Failed attempt to write a song about depression from a few years ago. [more inside]
Another song recorded with Music Memo providing the drums and bass (NSFW). [more inside]
The Question and the Answer
A short instrumental I wrote on the bass in 1989, but never got around to recording until now. This is song #1 in my series "Unu Kanto Po Semajno" where I plan to record approximately one song per week during 2016. This song covers the period January 1 through January 8.
Proto Man: An Empty Home
It is tradition among my people to collect 8-bit chiptune soundtracks that contain brilliant music, and learn and arrange them so that others may find joy in their melodic beauty! [more inside]
A campy, '60s-superhero-show theme for a video game I recently scored! [more inside]
Retro, funky, electro
Piano, drums, bass. [more inside]
This one has maybe the most tracks of any song I've ever made. [more inside]

Even more (distorted) pump organ in your electronic music. [more inside]
Felt the need to make some beats while pulling an all nighter for work on Wednesday.
Ringfinger (by Nine Inch Nails)
This was my submission to a project in which various artists covered songs from Nine Inch Nails' Pretty Hate Machine using at least one circuit bent or modified instrument (Soundcloud link). This one uses a reklus-modified Korg DDD1 and Monotribe (along with a sweet ring modulator he built).
it's the same idea
Wrote and recorded this a couple of years ago. This is where I left it, a couple of notches or more away from perfect... but it's got some good things about it, including a really messed up (in a good way) guitar solo. [more inside]
Are You Being Served?
My raffled request came, I am told, from ODiV, who wanted to hear the "Are You Being Served?" theme song. I hope this is the version he heard in his dreams (because it is, roughly, the one I heard in mine). [more inside]
Largo (To A Pegasus)
For two flutes, piano and strings. The video version of the score was featured on Equestria Daily. [more inside]
Climbing Up the Walls
Only three tracks left until we've finally finished the full album of OK Computer. The idea here is pretty simple--since we've made basically every other track super creepy, it was time to make the creepiest track on the album something completely different. Presenting rock and/or roll. [more inside]
The Flank of Bridenstein
I had a bit of fun with this: it's about a relationship gone wrong. I believe that the dual bass part is rhythmically interesting. Double bass and synth bass rhythmically intertwine and are coupled with a synth trumpet. There may be some Brian Eno influences a la The Drop. My album is available for $5 download at CD Baby: The Dividing Range. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/theseedsofautumn
[unfinished and untitled]
This song has been sitting around for most of the past year or so, unfinished and untitled, waiting for possibly a little more instrumentation (it's definitely a missing electric uke solo), some lyrics, and a re-recording of the drums with a real kit. I'm not good at playing fake drums. [more inside]
A creeping tune the style of Melody Nelson era Serge Gainsbourg. Darcy Hancock from the Vancouver band Ladyhawk lends a squalling guitar solo.
On New Year's Eve
Very short hard rock NYE ditty. [more inside]
Prelude to Nightmare Night
A minor-key, rondo-like composition for piano, bass, percussion, and various squelchy electronic bits. Hail the coming of Princess Luna! [more inside]
office house dub 5.1 gitch pop mix
Deconstruction and rebuild of office house dub 3.3.3 aiming for an inspiration somewhere between Boards of Canada, Nurse with Wound, Aphex Twin and proto-punk Nico/Velvet Underground. This is intentionally very experimental, abstract, noisy, tweaky, melodic and glitchy. [more inside]
office house dub 3.3.3
Chill experimental NASA and vintage 70s porn dub. (Safe for work.) [more inside]
I'm I Am
Rap song. It's pretty short, so just listen to it. Mind your subwoofers.
This is from my newest band, the Dosages, from a gig we did last month, providing live musical accompaniment for bondage master Arisue Go, who ties up young ladies and suspends them from the ceiling. Hella gig, eh? There's a video (plus videos of two more tunes from the same show) here. [more inside]

A love song for my guitar. [more inside]
a strange and mysterious adventure
This instrumental track was originally named "Em wrong" because it came out of absentmindedly playing my guitar while watching tv and accidentally strumming an E minor chord incorrectly on the 3rd fret. The resulting song has an uneasy, mysterious vibe. [more inside]
Voytek the Soldier Bear
An incomplete mix of a song I'm working on about a bear who joined the Polish Army (the subject should sound familiar). [more inside]
Weird Dream House
Lucid dreaming heartbeat house. Field recordings and textures recorded within the last week here in Seattle. [more inside]
