2 minutes and 30 seconds of crap
Laid Off
In the soundtrack to my life, this song is the last two days. [more inside]
event horizon
A dark, drone/noise piece that develops slowly
death is the road to awe
A relaxing drone; noise waveforms are dominant again
steel lotus in stockkeeping
Something blossoms out of something else, it would be ugly on its own, but coming from something so putrid it is sublime. [more inside]
industrial society and its future
Extra dark and ominous; uses mostly noise waveforms instead of sine waves
Ultrathaemlitz
This ear-piercing ambient piece was made in 2003, part of a release called Ultraviolet. I was listening to a lot of Terre Thaemlitz at the time, particularly Soil.
Two Step
A 24 hour noise number. Not for the faint of heart. [more inside]
Atriplex - Don't Cross the Beams
A few minutes of crazy space noise and strange particle interactions. [more inside]
On Fire (short)
its dirty, dirty, dirty and noisy, noisy, noisy. [more inside]
isolated research station orbiting a bizarre planet
Endcaps of warbling drone punctuated by bass stabs, and a middle section of high rhythmic complexity [more inside]
surviving in the wilderness
An ambient noise / drone piece with a dark mood.
xenomorph banging drums
Perhaps my most "complete" song yet. A five-minute ambient / glitch backbeat punctuated by percussion.
from troposphere to exosphere
More ambient / noise / drone stuff. [more inside]
Ancient Music Makers
My second song ever, made in Ableton Live. I figured out how to use the automation controls for better fades in/fades out, and I think it has a cleaner sound overall than my first one. Comments welcome.
Napping in the valley at dusk
My first song; made in Ableton Live 7 LE. It's a drone/ambient noise piece. Comments welcome, but please be gentle. (Warning: high dynamic range, starts out quiet, but gets loud.) [more inside]
Welcome Coma
Chiptune melodies falling into a mess of ambience, noise and everything in between. [more inside]
Swallowing Hair
3 guitar noise thing. [more inside]
Kings
An old Magnetic Fields song, replayed and distorted to sound like a new Magnetic Fields song. [more inside]
slime and air conditioning
update on an ongoing project of sonic aggregation [more inside]
404
And now for something completely different... this is a somewhat experimental instrumental track featuring pulsing soft noise, soft organs and a distorted xylophone, fake sitar, and off-key distant "singing."
i'm a piece of hell
I'm a piece of hell, burning like a champ. I'm in love with you. I don't know exactly what you're supposed to do about it.
(it's a touch noisy) [more inside]
Change Your Plans
I think this has potential, I just don't really know where to go with it. So for the moment, I'm posting it and moving on.
granny #6
noise piece using granulab and a short loop.
My God is dead
This comes from my noise/rock opera which is still unfinished.
Our protagonist realizes that he can survive and function without belief [more inside]
in memories
A collaboration with non-mefite Riadsala, who sometimes records bass for me. This is a pretty strange track, with a lot of effects going on, with a weirdish tempo change into the chorus which is backed by something in the vein of guitar shredding. [more inside]
star shapes
This is a song i've been trying to put together for a year or two now. It uses my usual punk + x formula, where here, x = rawhide. The second half is big, noisy, and was tons of fun to make. I"m kinda fond of the lyrics Hope you enjoy. lyrics inside [more inside]
somewhere in the noise
just a random idea i had. droning synth with vocals.
Cold Front
Music for unseasonable weather.
Gawler Line
My old daily journey in the rain; some twisted ambience.
You Promised There Would Be Girls [demo]
I wrote and recorded this today - it's basically a stream-of-consciousness account of one of the stranger and more entertaining parties I've attended.
White Devil
More noise rock from my defunct band, struction.
Blanket
Many layers of distortion and sampling create a blanket of noise that I find beautiful and terrifying. Please to be playing this as loud as possible.
It's a secret to everyone
more well orchestrated crazy.
Vertigo
A track from my defunct band's unreleased full length.
me- gtr, m. sonin- gtr/vox, d. zeidman- drums
recorded spring 2006
short trip
Ever been in a french train station ? Recorded as I was coming back from playing with Edouard (whose amplified saxophone is included). NOISE 20 secs into the recording (that's for humannaire) - but it ends as smooth as usual (guitar outro). Bits of usual threatening, complaining, philosophing... in french (and english).
GODZILLA Tooth House Hand
Recorded live at the opening night of Godzilla 2000 at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, CA, then mixed down in Vancouver in 2005. HEADS UP: Sudden LOUD!
love song for kilgore trout
Sorry it's a little quick and dirty. I wrote this poem a few weeks back, and it seemed like today was a good day to record it in some fashion. Dedicated to Kurt, who's up in heaven now.
About the song: It's just spoken word which i put over a little song i wrote in high school called "so it goes." It get's kinda noisy in parts, especially the outro. Hope you enjoy.
The Bright Room
This is essentially a remix of The Dark Room. It's robotic, entrancing, and a little creepy if you play it really loud. The only real quality of this track that holds it to the original is our surprise guest named Flute. And maybe a pad or something. I can't really remember.
Ending
I'm thinking this will be the outro to my first album, or possibly come right before the final song.
Smackbillie
I was in Amsterdam in 1995 and found an old Billie Holiday bootleg CD. Years later I found an interesting sample on there and imported it into the totally awesome audio program....SoundEdit16. Stretched it, pulled it, squished it, doubled it and looped it. This is the end result in all of its 16bit glory. I originally released this under the name Skycraft. By "release" I mean I burned 10 copies in 1999 and gave it to Ray at The Quaker Goes Deaf in Chicago and a bunch of friends. 10 Blank CDs cost a lot back then.
Evil (Rollercoaster Project remix)
This is an extremely remixed version of Evil by Interpol. It was produced by my friend and label-mate The Rollercoaster Project, whose music is guitar-driven experimental electronica. If you like this, you can download a couple of tracks from his debut album (sadly now sold out) or download the title track from his upcoming single (and purchase it). I'd love to hear what you think. He has a few more (unrecognizable!) remixes, which I'd be happy to post.
In5thWithPedalDown
I did this about 7 years ago in my old apartment on W. Fullerton in Chicago. I used to play under the name Skycraft. It has a break I lifted from Little Miss Lover and then I chopped it up in ProTools. Guitar played through ring modulator into an amp covered with aluminum foil. Enjoy.
A Conception Serene [rest for the wicked rmx]
The second in a series of songs i've remastered for a short [50 copy] run of my favorite tracks from 2002-2006. This one is a little more experimental and insomnia-fueled than the last one i posted, but not completely abandoning the previous emphasis on melody and atmosphere. See inside for more.
Coils And Clocks
Whirring, humming, clicking, wheezing dark ambient/glitch, from my new album, Unseen.
Feebdack Ogry
Strong on feedback and complex drum patterns in quite the krauty way. Dissolves in a beautiful crystalline feedback ending.
Digitally Raped
Some nasty noise, integrating samples composed from segments of executable files, spectral synthesis, and other bad sounding stuff.
Lightbulb Garden
From Struction's yet to be released full length. Two guitars and drums.
Ohming
In what distant deeps or skies
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?
Empty Spaces
Dark ambience with strange, swelling synths. Okay, I admit it, I can't even remember recording this track.
