You Can Make Me Feel Bad (Arthur Russell cover)

I've been listening to this song a lot recently, and admire Russell's sort of ambiguity. Featuring authentic San Francisco rain and street noise.

Birds

Long time no tunes! A simple tune on the classical guitar, sketched out after my daily struggle to learn Chopin & Satie songs. Birds, for interest.

April 23

A rendering of a theme, to start thinking about what it could be in a song. Kind of happy.

Dammit: Reprise

A revision of my earlier version of this cover, since I had a night to burn at school. Bigger, a bit less background noise, a little more banjo.

Sift

Kind of a break from recording and re-recording songs to be played live this year, this is kind of a folksy, reverb and acoustic-heavy, simple and short composition. Harmonizing my vocals is such a bummer lately, since it reveals how limited one's range is... [more inside]

Undercover

Recorded this song last night. It's a new direction, sort of. Unplugged electric bass, acoustic guitar, vocals. 7/4 but unusual rhythm work. I like it, hope you do.

cc'ed

Another acoustic, instrumental tune. This is the first track I've made in GarageBand (my Ubuntu machine died hard last week).

Dammit (Blink 182 cover)

This is the most unlike me I could ever be. But it seemed like a perfectly natural direction for the song to take, and my luck has been severely down the last couple days, so... (dear people who hate blink182. I do too, most of the time. This doesn't sound like them)

Half

A new song idea, hatched out of procrastination for finals. It kind of grows. I write songs backwards, I realized today. [more inside]

Class

Unusual music, make with a ukulele, acoustic guitar, and bass, in one shot. Using a MagicStomp as a (very rudimentary) phrase sampler, and Audacity to record. Enjoy

Diagram

This break I've been multitracking a few songs to pass the time, and this is today's creation. It's pretty simple, but it's a riff that I've had on my mind for a while, and this is the latest incarnation. Even though it's all one acoustic guitar, I'm trying to edge more towards an instrumental post-rock type thing than a coffeehouse thing (not like this is real post-rock, it's just a collection of layered one-takes)
