The strangest thing happened to me the other day. I was flipping through the radio dial, and every station was playing a cover of Lou Monte's version of Lazy Mary in a style that I despise. It sounded something like this. [more inside]

For this month's WILDCARD Challenge, all sounds made using only my body: cheek tapping, belly slapping, finger snapping and vocal utterances. Clocks in at a crisp 1:29, and takes its inspiration in roughly equal parts from eefing and katajjaq.

I recently unearthed my 4-track tapes from 1993. (I'm still searching for the ones from 1988.) This was one of my favorites on this particular tape. Guitar by me, AM Radio via the electromagnetic spectrum. It was recorded and mixed in less than an hour. I'll throw in the tape hiss for free.

If I only had wings, I would fly to you... If I had chains, I would pull you to me... Just open up my heart, you'll see that it's dark and heavy with my love to you...
Late last night, we wanted to capture the intimacy and quiet sparkle of this old song ... Hope it brings you a moment of peace and loveliness... [more inside]

A wonderfully sloppy version of an old Irish folk tune, recorded for the laugh, wherin an old man goes into a pub and is told to hit the road until he produces a shilling and is told to stay til morning!

I recently dislocated my shoulder, and assumed music was out of the picture for a month or two. But I was getting pissed off at not playing, and discovered if I capoed everything up really high and didn't play anything too fancy, my arm could handle short bursts of pickin'. So I made a simple song, part French and part English.

V never used to believe me I was truly in love with her. She always said one day I'd get my things and disappear into that world I seemed so enamored with. Words couldn't convince her. The song did.

I'm always unsure about posting the songs in languages other than English here, so I'll post this one with the question, would you listen to the song even if you don't understand the lyrics?

I must have had a sad, sad look when she turned to say goodbye, because she tilted her head, raised her hand, touched my face and said: don't worry, we'll be fine. And it was right then when she said it that I realized we were going to be perfectly fine indeed, we were just not going to be together anymore.
I went back into my house and wrote this song.

One in Japanese, fellows. I know there are a few of you who speak Japanese out there, so if the lyrics of this song don't really make sense, don't get offended, take it on a "best effort" basis. The lyrics were translated by the girl who sings in it, who is half Mexican, half Japanese. Also, if anyone can provide confirmation that it actually says something, it would be great, all this time we've only been able to hope the words actually say something and they were not taken from a refrigerator manual.

A song originally by Mono Blanco, performed here by my band. We decided to EQ it in such a way that it would sound as if coming from an old radio. Being upbeat and cheerful, I thought it would be a good way to start the week.
