MeMu Pals (a retrospective/feel good thread)
Anyone want to share some stories of friendships that have blossomed from the MeFiMu community? For my part, I gotta say this particular corner of the internet remains the nearest/dearest online community (music-related or otherwise) I've ever been a part of, and has been the starting point of a some really cool friendships (not to mention cool traxxxxx). Thought I would post a thread for us to share stories of how music collabs have turned into friendships, give a shout out to past collaborators and/or favourite collab tracks, and basically otherwise just have a mini-celebration of our singularly (dys)functional online musical family.

MeFi Music Mixtape Meta
There's a MetaTalk post at the minute asking people to link playlists and favourite MeFi Music posts, so I'm over here shamelessly drumming up interest. Come and join in, promote your stuff, fanperson all over your MeFiMu idols...the possibilities are several.

Any one up for a wee collaboration?
I've been lucky enough to be able to record vocals for some really talented people here - ochenk, rangefinder 1.4, not_on_display - and I'd like to do some more. As they could all tell you, I'm quite rubbish at replies as sometimes my job drains me of any will to live, so it would be a casual and potentially leisurely collaboration. And I can only sing into my phone and link you to Allihoopa like some kind of caveperson and then expect you to do all the actual work of composing and mixing and that. If that all sounds like fun for you then let me know! All genres welcome. Except that one. Thanks.

Songfighters: help me get my submission in!
So after several years not submitting to Songfight.org, my daughter contributed to a song late last week and I submitted it a few days early. Unfortunately, they are having email troubles and haven't received any submissions, and asked submitters to post a song link in the forum...which I can't do because my forum account is currently disabled. Help! [more inside]

Challenge Idea: Username-inspired songs?
Admittedly potentially fraught!
Similar to how a previous challenge invited non-MefiMusic regulars to opt-in by suggesting ideas for songs (e.g. set "When The Toad Came Home" to music), what about writing songs inspired by MeFite's usernames? They'd (we'd) have to volunteer themselves and willing Challenge-takers could call dibs on whichever they liked. Slight potential for drama, but considering some of the more creative, odd or merely unfamiliar usernames I reckon there's plenty of potential to whip up a song/piece/ditty based exclusively on the name given not the person.
Good/iffy/bad idea? I lean towards iffy, but I'm a natural pessimist.

Alternative lyrics for "What did you learn in school today"
I wrote some new lyrics for this still-relevant social commentary/protest song by Tom Paxton from the 60s, which was first recorded by Pete Seeger. I don't really have recording equipment to speak of, so I'm not posting my ukulele rendition but thought that the lyrics might be of interest. Music to soothe the soul of the savage
I've recently started building a playlist of quickly produced lofi recordings of live performances of what I'm calling "Creeper Ballads," covers of songs from the POV of problematic or unreliable male narrators who are either unrepentant creeps or who might be. The project is therapeutic for me, a way to vent unruly emotions and manage the stress of the ongoing political crisis and social breakdown in the U.S. and other painful setbacks I've been facing in my personal life. There must be others out there who've been making music to cope? Share and discuss what you've been doing creatively as therapy with the rest of us here. [more inside]
