A festive ringtone for your good cheer this yuletide, and gawd bless us ev'ry one.... [more inside]
This is a seed, an idea for a chorus that I'm offering up either for collab or for someone else to take it somewhere and give it a damn good shagging. I got the idea almost immediately upon reading unSane's post and recorded this on the fly in an hour or two today in between cooking dinner. It's as rough as the proverbial badger's arse, but there is something there worth exploring. Perhaps it could get better....
Forgive me gatecrashing the challenge. I've never consciously heard "OK Computer" or this track. I just read through the lyrics and this one resonated for some reason - serendipitously enough given it's Friday 13th! Hope no-one is offended by this effort bearing absolutely no relation to the original other than the lyric. Feels a bit like I've drunkenly decided to juggle with some Meissen china or something... ...funky but neat. A thrown-together (2 hours from soup to nuts) attempt to reflect the wretched cheesiness of the world John Cooper Clarke depicts in this one. I guess I could have added a little more Gorgonzola, but, eeeeuuw, it's high enough....even for Mr Cavendish and the enigmatic Elizabeth...
George Clinton gave us P-Funk. I'm giving you an R-Soul lick. As it were. Two licks for the price of one actually. Aren't you the lucky ones.... [more inside]
guitar-free instrumental rifferama from the early noughties.
Quick and dirty cover of Chris Rea's gruffly charming classic. Hope Chris doesn't mind me breaking in and rearranging the furniture a little. Merry Christmas everyone!!
November challenge entry. 60bpm, naturally. I offer no apologies for the darkness of this one. I hope the ticking isn't cheating re the vocals-only criterion. Lyric contains some strong language. [more inside]
Remix. Faster - varispeeded to within an inch of its spectral life. New drums. Modest EQ tweak.
You know that rush of memory that happens sometimes with a certain scent or sound? I've tried to evoke that through writing a song within a song. Not for me to judge whether it's worked or not.... [more inside]
An 18th century sea-shanty from around the time, allegedly, of the Battle of Trafalgar ("Kiss me Hardy....no,no I mean hardly"). Featuring indispensible and splendid contributions from uncleozzy (unhinged Robert Newton-esque vocal and accordion) and chococat (tracked vocal). Now....be careful you don't catch your clewgarnets in your flys... [more inside]
Want To Embarrass That Irritating Twat Of A Relative/Colleague At This Year's Christmas Get-Together? - Dundee Tells You How - For FREE!
Instrumental version of an earlier upload - on reflection the singing sounded less like herald angels and more like cats fucking, except not quite feline enough. Dammit. Anyway - if your Crimbo party starts to sag invite that irritating relative or co-worker to sing along and make an utter twat of him/herself! Remember to point out they have to do it a la John Lydon....
Picking up on media hype about a strange new star that's getting beardy-wierdies very excited, local New Wave outfit The HeBeGeeBees (Maurice, Barry and Ruben) decide the time is ripe to release their debut single. Recorded live at a packed-to-the-rafters Holiday Inn Bethlehem, the track is coupled with the riske “Herod Blew My Camel, No Really". [more inside]
Cover of The Waitresses classic recorded for Christmas 2006 and featuring my daughters Jennifer and Stephanie on vocals. Their English accents make it sound like a Bananarama outtake. I will shortly be uploading something that will almost certainly qualify for the "Naughty" podcast even if it doesn't make the cut.....
Featuring, in thier MeFiMu debut, the three resident witches of the Dundee household - the High Teas (geddit?). We're anticipating a call from the Royal Shakespeare Compnay any time about now....... so - Mirren, Dench et al - feel the fear...
This doesn't sound scary, but it's about something that is.... [more inside]
An ancient and extremely rough instrumental demo. Written after a visit to the battlefields of Flanders. It's not scary.......just a little bit haunted........ [more inside]
Given I'm responsible for this challenge, I guess it's incumbent on me to get the ball rolling. This one features the choir of St Cuthbert-In-The-Mire conducted by the Rev Lemuel Tonks MA. [more inside]
This is the one I really wanted to have a crack at, rather than "Sunday Morning" (along with the "Black Angel" my least favourite on the VU+N album) which is what I drew out of the brantub.... Perhaps a little busy on the percussion side, but I hope it retains some of the menace/sleaze that characterises the original. [more inside]

June Challenge entry. With sincere apologies to Mr Cohen and fans of the song. [more inside]
