3 analog synths, drum machine, vocoder
slightly wistful outtro-style synth jam... you know what, this one goes out to Cortex!!!! Thanks so much for all you've done for us on here over the years and hope we'll still see some sick Cortex action on the black every now and again!!!
Driving music with some synth pad action
I realize it's May, but you know
Analog synth + vocoder
Improvising on a synth loop
Improvising with 2 synths and a drum machine (where it's at!!!!)
Doing sort of a Deadmau5-style beat using an old drum machine (Korg S3). I used the noise wave on my Korg Monologue to create the little cymbal swells every couple bars (classic Deadmau5 trick which I have been trying to copy for a while using different methods). The pulsing synth riff is also kind of a Deadmau5 thing. It's weird - I'm not even that much of a fan of the guy but the handful songs of his that I've liked have clearly influenced me a lot.
Some minimal/deep house vibes. A very simple 4-track recording that was super easy and fun to make.
Synth demo in 2 parts. Featuring new gear acquisition the Korg S3 drum machine!
A little gtr, a little marimba, a little synth.
just kind of feeling good about stuff!!
Another drum-less synth loop featuring the Roland Sound Canvas SC-88 deploying its absolutely classic harp sample once again! All of the sounds on both this and my last post were made using hardware rather than software which is kind of a first for me in terms of synth tunes! Really enjoying it!
a new synth track featuring a new vintage gear acquisition, the Roland SC-88, providing the classic harp sample!
Some FL in FL
An eggs-tremely mellow morning improv sesh on the synth rig!!!
so I've been using this songwriting trick where I program a simple loop using the sequencer on my synths and sort of riff off of it to come up with the other instrumental parts. Then, when I have the idea properly fleshed out, I remove the synths. A songwriting scaffold, of sorts (though in many cases I have kept the original loop in there!!!) Anyways, for this track I included the synth loop at the very beginning so you can hear what I'm riffing off of for the rest of the track. Hope you like it!!!! -CA
Tried a bunch of new stuff this time round. It's a dance trance but I played almost everything live, including the drums which were "performed" on the keyboard, because I'm not a drummer. The only things that were automated were the drum fills, crash cymbals, and the marimba/piano 2 patterns.
FM softsynth drenched in reverb, chorus and delay
Another song from my early 20s. Going through some old files and finding some stuff that I hope is worth posting on here. I will try
An older one. Circa 2008
A short improvisation on the Roland JD-XA synthesizer using the 4-voice analog synth engine w/ arpeggiator and its wonderful filters!
A simple pop song for synth, drum machine and vocoder. Featuring another cheeky sequence from the Prophet-6! [more inside]
We have a Prophet-6 at work right now and I just found out that the sequencer is polyphonic. Programmed a chordy little loop and messed around with it a bit while grabbing it on my H2. Hope you enjoy the pure, unaccompanied sound of this gorgeous synthesizer!
vocodin' [more inside]
"I can't do anything without thinking about you next"
Just having a play on my day off
Finally taking the full rig for a proper spin again!
Fanfare for the common synth
A short improvisation for polyphonic synthesizer and 16-step sequencer
Featuring the Line 6 M9 providing a little bit of chorus, delay and reverb... and the old classic, the Line 6 POD providing the 'amp'. Full Line 6 rig today.

the big synth at the beginning is live-performed on a Roland JX-8P on the patch called "Van Halen"!!!
From the Prehistoric EP (2008)!
No drum beat or melody. Just some interlocking synth arps. For the Sunday crowd.
A synthy Mother's Day to all!
I think this is the first song I've posted with a guitar solo not done by Dagosto.
Victoria, BC's inner harbour is the perfect place to go after-hours on a clear night, put on headphones, and dance your face off by the water. Here's a song in honor of silly summer times. [more inside]
