Tastefully blending several genres together, including indie or alternative rock, dreampop, space rock, psychedelia, ambient and shoegaze. Sounds of Sputnik is a project producing a sound that immediately brings several associations to the surface - like dreaming, space, flight, exploration, reflection. Worth a listen whether or not you have or have not traditionally gone in the above-mentioned genres of music. [more inside]
J.S. Bach
When the radiant bliss of classical music comes to enter the realm of dream pop ambient downtempo, something serene yet pensive may be the result, as in the case of this track.
Initially when we composed this track, there were lyrics and vocals, but then our computer blew and somehow the vocals didn't survive. Today it is an instrumental.
Staying In
The melodies are starting to fade. The references aren't what you think they are. Perhaps it's a deformed cousin of another's previous post.
Heaviest Cannons
ambient/drone // electric guitar/electric cello [more inside]
The Day Of
Quiet music, but too active and guitar solo-y to properly call ambient. Moody. An argument happened and it sounded nothing like this.
Fallow
The previews end. The feature starts, quietly. Ambient instrumental cowboy music.
Beautiful Moment
Love generates love generates love. Beautiful Moment seems to capture an element worthy of such progeneration. Harmony, peace, smooth dreaming and a swirl of energy-filled ethereal waves.

Escritiore Conundrum
An old thing that's been sitting too long, I envision this as the music playing in your head when you've gone to bed, can't sleep, and have gotten back up and gone back to your workspace to crunch on that ONE odd thing that's been bugging you about your latest project. [more inside]
No Surprises
We bring you an extremely ambient take on the Radiohead classic to finish the album. Fair warning: you...might not sleep tonight if you listen with headphones or good speakers/monitors (which, of course, is best). [more inside]
Arguing About Numbers - Stendec
A mellow, ambient journey that transforms into more of a shoegazer situation. [more inside]
Erosion
I bought a cheap casiotone keyboard. I have to figure out how to learn to play it, but in the meantime... drone!
Ochre Cloud

Nineteen Thousand Sunsets
Ambient instrumental piece. It's a rather ambient dialog between the guitar and a bell-like sine synth. Long pauses. Slow paced. Throughout my life, one of my constant joys was always watching the sun go down. I've seen so many variations of this event that I wanted to express a condensation of the variety and bittersweetness of all those sunsets.

Swash
This is about 6 passes of live-looping that all fit together nicely with the same mood (bleak, minimal, meditative) and tonality. [more inside]
Qualm
A disquieting quasi-ambient piece from January, 1999, which was among my first purely software-synthesized efforts. I think I was listening to a lot of Oval at the time. [more inside]
Backwards
As the unimaginative title suggests, this is my entry for the April MeFi Music challenge. It's an ambient type of thing, largely made from reversed guitar recordings. [more inside]
The Shape of the Sword
Title track for a work-in-progress album under my new ambient moniker Foreign Buildings. [more inside]
Photographer
Whispy male vocals and plenty of air for dream-weaving delicately frame this ethereal song. While "Photographer" is one of Ummagma's more melancholy songs, it's far from depressing. This one stands in the light.
Features male vocals by Alexx Kretov (Ukraine).
The Gospel of Beasts
A track for my newly-formed ambient pseudonym Foreign Buildings. Title based on a misheard quote. [more inside]
Lama
A love for the golden 4AD era, Pink Floyd and the likes of David Sylvian have all been woven into the thread of this music. "Lama" was both inspired by these bands and reflects their contribution to a new generation of musicmakers. Looking forward, but knowing where our roots lie… I sincerely hope you will all enjoy this Ummagma track. [more inside]

It's been a while, and I figured I should come back with something wholly new (albeit about 4 months old). I've been holding out on posting this because, frankly, it's the most personal thing I've ever produced. [more inside]

My ambient tune "Morning" showed up in this touching Source Filmmaker video (then on Valve!)
Morning is the first of four pieces from a release that I did earlier this year called "Within the Darkness." Quiet, atmospheric textures. I woke up one morning and this fellow on YouTube named MetalSeer had put up this really nice video from Valve's Source Filmmaker. [more inside]
