Fruit Truck

Imagine a truck full of fruit, hauling ass down a long, winding road. It's driver, eyes red and glowing with hate, oblivious to the trail of oranges and grapefruits he leaves behind... [more inside]

Going Down to Die

A Danzig cover (aahh!) I used to love the early Danzig albums back in high school. Three or four months ago I had a nice night and must have remembered the band because I woke up with this. It has since been remastered several times ( took out a lot of bass on the guitar ) and many attempts to post have been made (some nights you just can't figure out LAME). Like everything else I seem to have thrown together so far, it's one take on guitar (with vocals from that take bleeding in) and then one for vocals which were doubled. I added some shit in the left at a couple places.

I Know A Guy Named Dan Huff

My good friend Dan Huff came to visit last week, and he brought copies of his new album. Dan is the most prolific songwriter and music maker I know, and absolutely one of my greatest influences. Writing and recording can be daunting tasks for normal musicians, but Dan has a love for music so intense that no barrier ever stands in his way. If Dan Huff can record an entire album in the back of his truck, then there are no excuses for the rest of us. Nothing should get between the artist and the audio tape. That's why Dan's newest album is so important. You can listen to some samples on his myspace page, but he's given me permission to post the album in its entirety on the internet, and I think you Mefites would be particularly interested in listening to it. Whoop Heet

Here's a song that is stylistically similar to Apfel Augen, but with (half stolen) lyrics, and some percussion that I'm quite fond of. The guitar is tuned C#G#C#F#A#C#. It features some cool whistling, which I was trying to make sound like slide electirc guitar. [more inside]

Dudely muzac

Apparently my last few posts have been pretty girly but that's cool, I'm comfortable with my musical sexuality. I wanted there to be no ambiguity with this one so I cranked my gitar to 11 and played it as dirty as I could. [more inside]

i will (radiohead cover)

Spur-of-the-moment lo-fi live cover of the Radiohead song off Hail to the Thief, to which I added a couple of equally rough overdubs and some reverb. The guitar is out of tune and poorly played, but the vocal melody tweaks are kind of fun. [more inside]

That's All

I'm jumping back into music with both feet right now, so here's another rehearsal recording for your listening pleasure. This sweet tune was introduced by Nat King Cole back in 1952. You young whippersnappers probably remember it from elsewhere though. Sigh. [more inside]

Back To Being Me

Maybe I wrote this song for Aretha Franklin. Maybe I wrote it for Candi Staton. Either way, when I sing it I feel like a large black woman.

butterflies

I just came up with this and recorded it on the H2 (I upped the volume a bit in Audition afterward). I'm pretty bad at finger picking and this owes a lot to John Fahey and Roy Harper. Not that they're bad at finger picking.... There's a faster and shorter version as well, but I liked the drone of this one more.
