civilization crumbles whenever we need it most
Dark ambient work with an industrial undertone and extreme use of reverb [more inside]
Dream Sequence
Abstract and minimal electronic piece. Inspired by movies like Manhunter and Tenebrae.
Warning - beginning is quiet by comparison. [more inside]
bide your time and everything becomes clear
Dark and moody. Lots of reverb. This is my fourth generative piece.
Sahara
In the desert, turn toward emptiness; fleeing the self.
Dawn
Thine age asks ease, and since thy duties be
To warm the world, that's done in warming us.
Shine here to us, and thou art everywhere;
This bed thy centre is, these walls, thy sphere.
There Will Be Love
A happy, melodic love song. I don't do these very often! Wrote it a year ago for a girl. [more inside]
Diamonds & Tequila
Earlier I posted a demo version of this song, this is the almost-finished one. It's an atmospheric, organic, dance-y track with some far east flavors and a dash of electro
Idl
Glitchy, semi-improvised piece with disjointed synths and samples.
Cutguitar interlude
Little bits of guitar chopped up and stitched together into a bouncy, happy whole. [more inside]
How Jesus is Made or Thank You and Goodnight
I haven't made anything in awhile; I guess I just used up all my stored inspiration. [more inside]
what goes on in those dark rooms
Six layers of sound, created completely from scratch in the Operator soft synth, sent through a filter delayed return track
I Have A Window
Electro-acoustic piece with piano, guitar and synths that started out as an idea to write a "palindromic" song. [more inside]
Reflections on a Mote of Dust
I wrot ethis electronic piece after reading Pale Blue Dot by Carl Sagan. He writes on one specific photograph taken from deep space, and coins our earth a "mote of dust" in the cosmic landscape.
This piece was inspired by use of imagery in the sound design, as well as Carl Sagan's musings in Pale Blue Dot. I imagine the primary theme as particles of dust, in perpetual motion in a shaft of light. The context of these "motes" is expressed as the piece develops into increasing complexity. The mote is always there, omnipresent yet insignificant in the cloud of actvity around it.
I hope you all enjoy it

After Hours Dub
They say the darkest hour is right before the dawn.
i've seen what they do
Second generative piece; bassy pad and six layers of percussion
the factory produces mortar shells
My first foray into generative music; bass drone with four layers of percussion on top
Traps
A song about how humans fool pests to kill them, from the pest's point of view. Made today in 2 hours. [more inside]
Bloom
This is a short IDM-esque style electronic piece written in the fall of 2008. I was largely inspired by the idea of Klangfarben melodie, and tried to incorporate a lot of tone colors in the piece, especially by experimenting with modulating the LFO rates of the synthesizers to different degrees to create many different "colors" of the same basic sound [more inside]
many of you won't survive the night
Another dark ambient piece; more fun than a farmhouse under seige
Revolutionary Women's Mechanized Suicide Brigade
A track from my new album Ticker (which you can download for free).
a few hundred thousand dead cannibals
A quiet, haunting track with drones, chimes, and muted bass beats [more inside]
On Fire (short)
its dirty, dirty, dirty and noisy, noisy, noisy. [more inside]
Ibot Ubot Robot Nobot
An upbeat synthy breaksy tune. The final version of what previously sounded like this, but with samples stripped out for a cleaner effect.
we knew he was out there
muffled, glitchy beats in five layers [more inside]
For Great Justice
I have been on hiatus due to school, this song is from before said hiatus...anyways, enjoy
second journey into space
Background hum that becomes a melodious, multi-layered trip [more inside]
Ibot Ubot Robot Nobot (Mighty Stealthy mix)
Found on the same CD as the last tune I uploaded, this is a forgotten remix to what I guess is one of my main tunes (I'll upload that later by way of comparison). I actually prefer this version now, though the strings at the end are laid on a bit thick.
while making an attempt to escape the city
Howling wind ambience, strongly beat-oriented, and spikes of high and low notes
First Snows of Summer
Stuttery drums, blippy synths, lots of piano, copious crash cymbal, and a bucket load of reverb. [more inside]
Bozboz
Found this on an old CD, but it's about as good as anything else I've done so I'm sticking it out there. A simple, upbeat jungle-technoy thing with layered breakbeats and a nasty synth lead dominating the second half.
Linus and Lucifer
It's not really that satanic. And you can still dance to it Peanuts-style. [more inside]
isolated research station orbiting a bizarre planet
Endcaps of warbling drone punctuated by bass stabs, and a middle section of high rhythmic complexity [more inside]
Divergence
A downtempo dance tune... I think. Yep.
drifting out to sea
Relaxing ambient piece. I continue to love using the automation controls in Ableton Live.
Slaw Value-Pak
surviving in the wilderness
An ambient noise / drone piece with a dark mood.
Noetic
1. of or pertaining to the mind.
2. originating in or apprehended by the reason.
The first completed track of a new Lestrade collection called Flights of Theory.
a woman claiming to be the devil
A harsh, glitchy, beat-driven piece.
boxing in a flooded basement
My most melody-driven piece thus far. I'm not totally happy with it, but I got tired of tweaking things. I have several other half-finished music projects I want to work on, so it was nice push this out the door.
The visitor
Short loopy ambient motif with some white noise. [more inside]
Interlude
Short GarageBand arrangement. [more inside]
addpach30as.a
Minimalist square ambient paste. [more inside]
Ancient Music Makers
My second song ever, made in Ableton Live. I figured out how to use the automation controls for better fades in/fades out, and I think it has a cleaner sound overall than my first one. Comments welcome.
Saltines Assemble!
"You may control Nilla wafers, but my saltines are safe." "Counterfactual. To wit: SALTINES ASSEMBLE!" [more inside]
Where We Live
A song I wrote to put off studying for my math exam [more inside]
You, The Automaton
you're just kind of minding your own business, you know, cruising along. you're doing things, but you're not really there. you're just going through the motions, spaced out and numb to the world around you. you are the automaton. [more inside]
Systems
I have my first show this weekend and this is one of the songs for it. [more inside]
I Trust You To Kill Me
My very first MeFiMuCh entry, this one is Halloween themed. It is dark and spookily minimalist electronic pop with ghostly vocals and lyrics about being at the end of the world (via zombie apocalypse) with a loved one and the logistics of love in the time of zombies. Interesting to note, this song was originally written on banjo as a folk song. But when trying to add some electronic elements to it experimenting with the recorded version I decided to make it a straight electronic song. [more inside]
Song for Sleeping
A little piece I made for a friend who was having trouble sleeping.
Cascades
the finished version of "they glow" [more inside]
