Chain Link Leather
Trancy and ethereal. Intended to be an interpretation of a dream that a friend had told me about. [more inside]
Orbital Eccentricities
In an attempt to branch out a bit, I made this song entirely on the keyboard. Most of my songs are pretty sample-heavy but this one has almost no samples at all, just the drum loop, which is severely cut up and re-arranged. A good song to listen to when cruising in orbit in your spaceship.
Lacksidaisical Paramour
A currently-instrumental hip hop beat in progress. I've been trying to remix this song for a long time, and this is the best I've managed to come up with so far. [more inside]
Popping the blowstand
Just another overly long drum machine heavy metal guitar demo from 7 or 8 years ago. [more inside]
theme from "gone"
D's Minor
A song for a special girl.
Solo GarageBand piano, some wrong(?!) notes, lots of suspendy chords. [more inside]
sedentary
This season found me in the midst of a little personal crisis and I was sitting idly around the house for long hours. Like me at the time, this doesn't travel too far from where it starts. [more inside]
Overload
An abstract electronic piece; some of the piano riffs later through the song sound like they're being pushed too fast, which led me to the title. [more inside]
slinky saturday
A sunshiny ode to arcs and Saturdays. [more inside]
butterflies
I just came up with this and recorded it on the H2 (I upped the volume a bit in Audition afterward). I'm pretty bad at finger picking and this owes a lot to John Fahey and Roy Harper. Not that they're bad at finger picking.... There's a faster and shorter version as well, but I liked the drone of this one more.
Spooky Bitch
Messing around with Ableton Live. It might be too long, but I don't care. [more inside]
Profiling
Rob da Bank played this on his Radio 1 show in 2005, so it's my most successful track by a factor of about 1,000,000. I hope you like it.
Grendel
Sort of strived for emotional content with this one. If the first part is asking questions, the second is not liking the answers.
Aidu
Bagatelle with a capital b, e, l, l. In the same family as Sam's Company. 44 seconds.
Attack of the Pasta Party Pirates
An original song by my old band, Selected Letters. Alto Sax, Oboe, Violin, Guitar, Bass, Drums, and a good mix of tight arrangement and improvisation. I miss this band a lot, but it was great while it lasted.
The Determinator.
A classic punk rock song. [more inside]
cc'ed
Another acoustic, instrumental tune. This is the first track I've made in GarageBand (my Ubuntu machine died hard last week).
Clotho
Did you ever play Columns for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive? [more inside]
Blah blah blah (cover version)
This is a pointless instrumental cover version of Meatbomb's recent a capella (one extreme to the other), Blah blah blah for the MeFi Music challenge, so now you can sing along to the tune*! [more inside]
Init 2
A short, chilled-out acoustic tune.
bond
There was set before me a mighty hill,
And long days I climbed
Through regions of snow.
When I had before me the summit-view,
It seemed that my labour
Had been to see gardens
Lying at impossible distances.
And long days I climbed
Through regions of snow.
When I had before me the summit-view,
It seemed that my labour
Had been to see gardens
Lying at impossible distances.
Jam back in the house
Layered solo instrumental using just a guitar and a loop pedal. [more inside]
Kingsfold
The English folk tune Kingsfold rendered very simply in synths. Incidentally, it is also the tune to the hymn I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say, and almost identical to the Irish folk song, Star of County Down. The melody occurs elsewhere in European folk music, I believe.
spacewreck
No one was really sure how I could've crashed in space, which is by nature, mostly empty. And when they found me, I had gnawed of most of my leg in order to survive, and not in much of a state to explain the events. [more inside]
Afternoon Date
A four-piece: guitar, drums, piano, bass. [more inside]
Lazerhawk Rising: Scourge Of The Moonless Depths
This is an instrumental metal recording dating back to 1999, made on a four track with an Alesis SR-16 drum machine. From an aborted/abandoned concept album previously mentioned. [more inside]
Counting Song
A crackly, sketchy demo recording that never found a band.
Sunday Front Porch
Early morning front porch music... [more inside]
Stranged Universe
An overly long, low quality, self indulgent metal riff-fest demo with no vocals. [more inside]
Saturday Morning
Because I thought you might need a theme song for your Saturday morning cartoon starring Steven Seagal. [more inside]
Curious Little Smile
About twice a year I'm charged with the task of making music for a Japanese design house's fashion shows. One of this season's pieces, for Tokyo Fashion Week, needed to be "airy and pretty and happy", which is not exactly a vein of musical expression that I normally fall into naturally, but, hey, gotta give the bossman what he wants, right? Anyway, this instrumental piece (5:42) is what I came up with.
Untitled
An instrumental composed in an electronic music suite. And I barely knew what the fuck I was doing. [more inside]
instrumental
Here is a song without words, yet. I've got some questions on the inside. [more inside]
crushed
A bit of lurking darkness to brighten your horrible day. [more inside]
Underwater Silent Movie
An imaginary soundtrack theme from a silent movie filmed entirely underwater. A short but sweet instrumental track from Tangemeenie's forthcoming "The Gilded Age."
Summer Helper
Another Saladabar song. This one is an instrumental and is new. The recording is a live recording from a recent rehearsal made with an Edirol R-09.
Joshua's Lament
This was one of those late jam sessions that turned into an early morning song writing session. This melody originated to the sun coming up over the field in my back yard. Its reasons like this that make me thankful we always left a mic on record while we hung out. I'm on mandolin, my friend is playing guitar.
V
Screwing around with some theories on how 5 and boompsh might fit together. After all, with the recession and inflation, Bernanke hopes to make 5 the new 4. [more inside]
Fountain
My friend and I play a lot of acoustic music around local coffee shops in town. Here's one of the many mandolin tunes we wrote in my living room last summer. I'm on mandolin and my friend is playing backup guitar.
404
And now for something completely different... this is a somewhat experimental instrumental track featuring pulsing soft noise, soft organs and a distorted xylophone, fake sitar, and off-key distant "singing."
Minutes To Live, Seconds To Die
Another surf-y thing from my old band, the Brimstones. [more inside]
Five Fathoms Down
Melodic, slightly exotic, wistful surf music from Hell. [more inside]
Hide and Seek
Just a GarageBand loop creation. Do not operate heavy machinery while listening.
The sky was filled with rainbows
A little synthetic ditty for FAWM'06.
Mothers
One of the earlier songs by Kinda Panda [more inside]
No Hard Feelings

Metafilter Music Collab | Teaser #2: Freak Show
