Soothin' Synths, Part 2: a Synthy Lullaby
We have a Prophet-6 at work right now and I just found out that the sequencer is polyphonic. Programmed a chordy little loop and messed around with it a bit while grabbing it on my H2.
Hope you enjoy the pure, unaccompanied sound of this gorgeous synthesizer!
These Few Hours (Original Soundtrack)
Instrumental piece I recorded for the Short, "These Few Hours".
When Green Leaves Spring (It's Good To See You)
This short (1:16) instrumental ditty is what happened when I started learning a new recording platform that came with loops of instruments I'd always wanted to play or include on my recordings: pedal steel guitar (I was super excited about this especially -- I've wanted to work with pedal steel for a really long time), baritone guitar, and mandolin. And did I mention the bossa drums? Not sure if I went overboard but I had fun and liked the result. [more inside]
Pickin'
Just having a play on my day off
The Counterforce
I'm fairly sure when I picked up my guitar tonight I only intended to practise for a bit, not make a short garage instrumental called The Counterforce, yet here we are. [more inside]
Does this belong in a movie?
There's a song with words and stuff that this was originally based on, but I like the instrumental version better.
Mellow, textured, haunting, builds slowly. What do you think?
Soundtrack I Recorded for the Short "Inhumane"
I recently recorded this soundtrack for the short "Inhumane". I have linked the video below if watching the finished product is more your speed. let me know what you think.
GAIA jam
Featuring Carlos Najar on guitar and your homeboy carrotadventure on synths and drum machine.
In this upbeat improv jam I am playing the Roland GAIA synth for chords and the Korg Monologue for bass. Also operating the Roland TR-8 for beats.
Slow Orbit
From the new Yabra EP!
A Natural Carpet
A psuedo-guitar-like ambient song performed on modular synthesizer. This is the third track on my new release Nereus, available on Bandcamp. [more inside]
Black and White Rag
I've always known "Black and White" as a fiddle rag, but it turns out it was composed for piano in 1908. When I was a kid, it was one of about a dozen tunes my dad and I played together (over, and over, and over) with him on guitar and me on fiddle. In a total coincidence (no, really) my band decided to record it for our upcoming album “High on the Hog”. I never played it quite like that with my dad, but looking back it's fun to imagine I was practicing for this. [more inside]
16 Step
A short improvisation for polyphonic synthesizer and 16-step sequencer

High Tide (Soundtrack Composed for a Silent Short)
This is a piece I recorded for a silent short comprised of Public Domain footage from 1936 taken from the Prelinger Archives. let me know if you'd like me to share the video.
Slipstream
A piece I wrote and recorded with a friend as part of an instrumental post-rock project.
Summer Follows Redux
Impossible Bookings is a collaboration I kinda sorta foisted upon cicadaverse, who initially posted the instrumental version of this track 6 months ago. I put words to what he'd created, we each reworked what we had into shorter form, he remixed my vocals and added to the instrumentation...then life happened to us both. We caught up recently after a few months off, remastered it, and called it good. [more inside]
Elvis Presley Slow Down
A little finger style Elvis Medley. As slow as I could manage.
And the Sunrise Welcomes You Home
A short instrumental piece (featuring synth) in which I basically have fun building from a loop. This is my entry for the MeFi Music challenge to submit music inspired by a MeFi post (I Saw This Thing On The Blue And...). Credit actually goes to three MetaFilter-related posts from last month: two MeFi posts by not_on_display and one MeFi Music post by ignignokt; they inspired me to create electronic music again after a decade+ hiatus. Long time no tunes! A simple tune on the classical guitar, sketched out after my daily struggle to learn Chopin & Satie songs. Birds, for interest.

Thoughts in B-flat
In the past couple of weeks, I found myself going back to a piece that I'd started working on a few years ago -- probably because it's in a slower triple meter that's somewhat calming for me. This is a condensed one-minute version, featuring piano and guitar, for the 60 Seconds and Under #2 MeFi Music Challenge. [more inside]

savory for me
Just an experiment of guitar electronic fusion I've been playing with. I'm planning on doing an album-full of these types of songs soon.
deeply listening
Spent the last year learning to program and had no time for music. Finally got a job and a new-ish life so I thought it's time to get back to some things I enjoy.
This one is different from my normal thing though I suppose I'v'e always had an attraction to analog merging with electronic. Maybe thanks to new order/joy division??? Though this doesn't sound anything like those.
